Contaminated after redunking, smells like peaches.

I've got some brf cakes going right now. yesterday i harvested one and put it in some water to rehydrate and tonight it had a layer of slimy, translucent shit on it with a smell close to peaches.
it's the sludge looking shit.

anyone know what this is?

Probably some sort of bacterial contamination - bacteria usually smells like rotting or fermenting fruit.

However, at this stage, it's no big deal.

for future reference, if this happens again is it safe to just rinse and wipe the shit off? i threw this cake away, didn't want anything to do w/ fruity slime.

peaches sounds better then sour..hmmm....that would be cool...to smell peaches and know its bad..as oppose to a nasty odor
