Habitat: All around rotting wood, and fallen trees. Gills: On both of the mushrooms their both a yellowish color/ the taller one is a bit darker.
Stem: Somewhat stiff, yellowish orange with very fine lines it looks like.
Cap: Smooth/microscopic scales but you cant really feel them. Yellowish orange on both.
Spore print color: Dont know yet.
Bruising: No bruises yet.
Other information: They both taste extremely bitter, The Taller one was found about 20-30 yards away from the other species, i think the young ones are Gymnopilus Luteus? not sure though. The tall one was growing by itself near dead wood, Caught my eye because it looks and tastes so much like them. Just any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

I don't know about G. luteus but they do look consistent with the characteristics of Gymnopilus sp
The notched gills and scaley cap are good signs.
I'de wait for a few opinions on this one though.

I found some in the same patch a few days ago, they were ID'ed by a few other trusteds as Gymnopilus Luteus. Is is possible to have Luteus and Juno in the same patch? The big one is the one that has me confused.

The spores visible on the veil look a little drab for Gymnopilus.. But I wouldn't rule it out, what with the bitter flavour.
My first guess is a Pholiota species.

Gymnopilus I'd say. Not sure of the species.
Looks like something in the G. spectabilis group. I don't think they're G. luteus though.

Deciding whether a mushroom belongs in Pholiota or Gymnopilus is not always an easy task, since both may have rusty brown spores, and some Pholiota species are bitter... I am still leaning towards Pholiota, though microscopy may be necessary to tell definitively one way or the other.

Make a good argument against Pholiota.

This is a low quality 40x microscopic picture i just took. Im not sure if you can narrow the species down by this shot, i can take lots more, if needed. Thanks for everyones help =)
Dont mind the blurry, and i also had to use my surgical tools to move spores around from aluminum to clear plastic/glass thats why the spores are so spread out.

I don't mean to interrupt but does anyone else see the G in the microscope picture. It's kind of at an angle and near the center vertically but to the right horizantally. Now I know nothing about spores under microscopes but I think it's a sign lol.
