How likely is my syringe contaminated?
    #11171915 - 10/02/09 10:52 PM (8 years, 9 months ago)

I used a syringe a week ago and I just put the cap back on and zip it in the bag, how likely is it contaminated? Can I use it?

How would we know that?  You didn't even mention if you were working inside of a glovebox or in your dirty bathroom. Just inoculate some more jars with it and see, if you were following anything resembling proper sterile procedures. ~P~

You left the needle on, and capped that? Probably ok. Flame it, of course.

It's almost guaranteed to have SOME bugs on it; that's why you sterilize the needle. Also, the best you can do is hope your sterility is good, and do the best to make it better. If your getting contaminants, then crack down on sterile technique. No good fretting about it tho...
