Prozac
    #11170703 - 10/02/09 06:09 PM (8 years, 17 days ago)

I went on Prozac 5 days ago, and I'm starting to become extremely angry and suicidal...Time to come off.......but is it cool just to totally stop taking it?>

I've been taking 10mg a day.

Don't just quit without talking to your doc, but definitely do call them. Prozac acts as a stimulant at first which could be giving you the feelings of rage and anger, but after it's been in your system for a while it starts to act as a sedative. You have to give these things time.

You Might just need to adjust to it. I take it too. I never look down upon taking pills anymore. I can easily say that Prozac played a big roll in getting over alot of depression and to this day I take it and it makes me more awake and motivated to go to work and an optimistic out look.

I would defiantly at least cal your doctor and let them know whats up. They know way more about the meds that we do and can tell you what you should do.

Prozac is not for everyone. Maybe you should stop taking it. If you tell your psychiatrist you have thoughts of hurting yourself or others he will most likely have you taken to a mental institution in an ambulance.

Yeah, thats why i never bother to tell docs that kind of stuff.  :P  Stopped taking it a couple days ago, and I feel so much better its amazing.  Prozac was some weird as shit, and the whole time I had a headache on the left side of my head for five days...ugh....

I would also defiantly tell my doctor to fuck off with daily depression meds

def. call doc.

the first 2-3 days of an ssri can be tough, tired and cranky.
usually the 4-7 period one's brain is getting acclimated to the extra seretonin--this can result in increased motivation and the desire to do something (if you've been suicidal before, you might make that the object of your motivation) remember, if you've been experiencing real depression, you're brain is not used to wanting to do things...i think i read like 20 books the first week i was on zoloft...

find something to do...now is the time to start a project; focus all that new energy into something good for your life
