I Beat Trich (update pic 10/21)
    #11164094 - 10/01/09 04:00 PM (8 years, 20 days ago)

ok did not want to post this before. i was waiting until now to make sure it worked

i had a jar that started to get a small patch of tric at the very top right next to the glass.

this jar also had a silver dollar size patch of MYC growing as well (deeper in the jar)

before opening the jar i heated the area with a lighter until it was VERY hot. got so hot that the grain that the grain with trick on it was burned. thats 400+ degrees

then i waited until it cooled.

opened it OH NOOOOOO

With a sterile spoon, i scooped out the tric and everything even close to it.
i actualy removed the entire top inch of material.

then i wiped the inside of the jar with a lysol soaked paper towel

then i sealed the jar back up and shook the hell out of it..

that was 5 days ago and now the jar is full of beautiful white MYC. no trich

now i know there is a big chance of contam later when i spawn it, thats why im letting it FULLY colonize and spawning to straight coir (never had trich on coir)

:pm: me if you have questions about lasers

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

I hope that the surviving trich spores are not buried in the middle of your jar....

im sure they are.. but im hoping that any tiny trich MYC gets beat out by the shroom and that the spores do not germinate on the coir. i have never had a spore germinate on coir.

yeah.. there is no trich anymore.. im sure there are spores in there.. but the mushroom MYC has taken over and even if a spore does germinate, it will not survive the competition.

I beat trich on a BRF cake with a heavy dose of Peroxide and Salt-Paste.

a large chunk of the cake was damaged and had to be scooped out, but I feel that my men won the fight.

peroxide does nothing to trich
im assuming you are still doing that grow?
its either going to come back to left its toxins there and is going to damage anything near that area

slurry is a terrible idea.
you just trich and now you're just going to spread it
i get the feeling you are only taking the advice you want to hear

i would have waited untill you had successfully fruited before posting.. this happens often and people think they have 'beaten trich' its a common misconception where trich will bury itself deeper in the jar and once you birth it or move it to bulk it will eat all the yummy food that you have prepared so easily for it.. i would try birthing it seperate from everything else and see what happens good luck but im doubtful

I've thrown colonized jars with small patches of trich in to coir (solitary coir and vermiculite) and the contamination never spread.  Trich doesn't like coir too much.  But if you plan on putting coffee grounds or some dumb shit like that in it then don't waste your time.

--------------------
HELLO, NUBCAKES.  ARE YOU HAVING CONTAMINATION ISSUES?  WELL, YOU MUST NOT BE AWARE OF THE MAGICAL FORCE OF BACTERIAL ENDOSPORES.  E-N-D-O-S-P-O-R-E-S.  SPELL IT OUT, YOU GOD DAMN NUBLETS, BECAUSE IT WHAT CAUSES EVERY CONTAMINATION KNOWN TO MAN.  ENDOSPORES HAPPEN WHEN YOU DO NOT PRESSURE COOK AT 15 PSI FOR AT LEAST 6 HOURS.  LIKE A FUCKING VIETCONG IN HIS CAVE, THESE RELENTLESS COCKSUCKSERS CAN GET FUCKING FRIED AND STILL POP OUT OF YOUR GRAIN AND FUCK ALL YOUR SHIT RIGHT UP!!  GETTING CONTAMINATIONS?  WELL OBVIOUSLY, YOU DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ENDOSPORES!!
