Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.

Are these spots kinda mushy?

>>and very hard sticking out of the xylum?

is what sticking out of the xylem and how are you seeing the xylem, do you have a microscope and have cut the cactus in half or looking at an uncallused end?

>>how to rid myself of these buggers?

are you positive it's an infestation? Perhaps rot.

Take a picture of it and show us.

well i cut it out due to advice of friend i bought it from. it was kinda soft anyways but looked like a growth inside the green skin and cut all down to core. now its calousing and the light brown spots now are hard so which i think might be due to scarring? dont know what the infectious thing was but it was like black/brown something growing and it wasnt soft once inside it was kinda stiff.

err, cutting all the way down to the woody core, in my opinion, is a bad idea.

You really only needed to cut away the spot in question down to where it looked healthy again, then removed just another half a centimeter or so to be sure it's clean.

The remaining things you talk about sound just like scarring, but keep an eye on it and give it a feel to make sure it's not changed in consistancy.

I've gotten these before as well, but don't worry, it'll be fine. It will most likely turn into a white scar. but it could be a fungus too, so get some anti-fungus spray just in case.
