It sounded in tune. I'm freaking obsessive over that. Sometimes I tune up three or four times a day.
You're pretty good. Nice sounding guitar, too.
Are you going to add in some vocals?

It sounded in tune, but you should really bust out a metronome while you practice. Your tempo varied a lot through that.

I hardly ever tune my guitar, i can't hear the difference unless it's way off.
but yeah - slow down a little

haha yeah, I did not set that out at all, twas just a jam(that's the reason behind the tempo change), and to answer the other question, yeah I guess I did write it haha. the chords are out there, and i just kinda picked and choosed.
But yeah, I def should play with a metronome, listening to myself I could really use the practive.
and, I would not embarrass myself enough to sing :P

so how well is your knowledge of chords and "being in key" and all that? I've just recently started looking into stuff like that. I have no idea if what you played was in key

I'm no guitar expert, but in my opinion if it sounds right then it doesn't matter. When I'm jamming I just try and find the root chord or note real quick and just go by ear from there. To much theory makes you sound mechanical.

i like the phrase "if it sounds good, it is good"
justinguitar.com - great great stuff.
i kind of dislike theory as a whole, as somebody who listens to a lot of blues music and A LOT of hendrix(who played purely off of his ear) getting into the jive of learning music theory can be quite frustrating - especially because I don't want to learn it, I just wish I had a better ear for music sometimes ridiculous i'm sure.

No I totally agree, I feel like learning lots of theory is actually bad for your sound in some ways, it makes you sound less like an individual player and more like everybody else. This is WAY more pronounced in people who got lessons. They end up just playing licks and progressions that they were shown or that they learned. Most of the best guitarists have always been self taught, at least my favorites: Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Omar Rodriguez Lopez...the only guitarist I like who was taught that comes to mind is Ler LeLonde from Primus.
