Horse Farm Field Hunt
    #11160129 - 09/30/09 10:52 PM (8 years, 20 days ago)

I'm new to mycology and I'm trying to ID some nearby finds.  I'd appreciate any help or additional info that I left out or should be more aware of next time.

These were all taken from a Horse Farm in South Louisiana.

Here is mushroom #1

Habitat:  Found in grassland.  Only one in site

Gills:  Attatched and slightly andexed.  Tanish purple color

Stem:  Tanish white color.  Hollow and fibirous.  Fragile.  2" long.  width=?

Cap:  1.5" wide. Tan color getting lighter on outside.  Very Fleshlike in texture and
color. Smooth and somewhat slimy when moist.

Spore print color:  Dark crimson to purplish (Black in areas)

Smell:  Earthy to lotiony

Mushroom #2

Habitat:  Edge of Field under mix of trees including oak and pecan.  Only one in area.
Light grass with decay and visible ground

Gills:  Close,  attatched gills (andexed)  white to off white color.

Stem:  small hollow.  White in and out.  2.25" long.

Cap:  1.5" Bell-shaped, very smooth, kind of sticky (white at top from damage)

Spore Print:  Creamy white

Mushroom #3

Habitat:  Found under edge of oak tree (where leaves meet the ground/grassland).
Single oak in a pasture.  Small Patch of these each being small in size.

Gills:  Golden, Distant, attatched

Stem:  Full (not hollow)

Cap:  2.5" at widest point.  Sunken shape.  Smooth. Not slimy.  Golden color with
        brownish tint towards  center

Spore Print:  Didn't drop any

Mushroom #4

Habitat:  Found under oak tree.  Others under same tree.

Gills:  Light Brown.  Close, attached (adnexed)

Stem:  Almost shiny, light brown-almost white with a touch of purple to darken it.  Solid inside (not hollow)

Cap:  Conical and Knobbed, Smooth surface.  Dark being darkest at center.  2.5" wide

Spore Print:  Cinnamon brown

Mushroom #5

Habitat:  Found under oak tree, hiding in grass.

Gills:  tan- Close, nearly crowded, attached

Stem:

Cap:  1" wide, Conical, smooth silky surface, tan with a darker nipple in center

Spore Print: Light Brown

Here is another interesting one which I wasn't able to look into further.  It hadn't broken free from its veil yet and was under a live oak tree alone.  I found about 5 others under another live oak on the same property a few hundred yards down.

Mushroom #6

Welcome to the Shroomery, DreamRoom.  Nice descriptions.  Number one looks like some kind of Stropharia.
