Oysters - mixed colors
    #11158680 - 09/30/09 07:30 PM (8 years, 9 months ago)

My first oysters
Pl. Pulmonarius on oat straw tubes.

The caps came out in different colors.
Is that normal?

That's pretty cool: I have never seen that before. All of my oysters have uniformly coloured caps.

I am looking for the following edible cultures:
  • Chicken of the woods (Laetiporus sulphureus)
  • Wood blewit (Lepista nuda)
  • Cauliflower (Sparassis crispa)

My trade list of available cultures is in my Journal.

The yellow/brown ones look like aborted primordia. You might have sprayed too much water on them.

Agreed.  They stopped growing.
May have been the water.
Or maybe because I put the tubes in my car to get them out of the chilly air one afternoon and I think the sun may have aborted them.
