What should i be looking for?
    #11158098 - 09/30/09 05:54 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

Okay so BRF and some poo bulks in a 20gal aquarium with 4 inches of perlite, a fish tank bubbler (for good measure) and two 6500k 10 watt flourescent daylight bulbs.

Four days after the roll, and there's no sign of pinning/knotting at all. The myc seems to have taken over it's roll of vermitulite somewhat though, so I assume it has to happen soon.

What I was wondering was, do any of you have high res pictures that show what the phase of going from just a cake to having "knots" and pins? Most pics I find have noteable mushrooms. I'm basically asking what should i be looking for to know it's about to make pins.

crossing fingers!

That first picture is it I think. Mine definitly seems to be doing something like that. it's got a fresh, bleach white amount of my growing out past the roll of verm and it's quite bumpy in texture.

The cow poo cakes are just an experiment, but I hope they grow eventually too.

That second picture  gives me the impression that after rolling it in verm, one should expect the myc to fully consume that layer of verm with new myc before it starts pinning out. If this is the case i'll be damned- I got the slowest growing syringe of TC ever.

10 days now, and my cakes haven't pinned. THey are in a 10 gal fish tank with almost 4 inches of perlite. I fan at least 3 times a day, and they have two 65000k flourescents.

Is there any way I can tell if they need more air, water, or less water? It seems balmy inside ery time I open it, so it seems right, but no growth. just light bruising on all my cakes.

Affirmative le'capitan. 5 of the 7 cakes have only had 5 days exposure. Not much growth on the hpoo cakes I made.

Next time I'm definitely bulking this cooler I have with a plexiglass top and cow poop. unbeatable.

YAAAY I got pins! Lat night there was nothing, but I got up this morning and two of my seven cakes (the two I birthed early) have /hundreds/ of pins. just a solid wall of them along the top half of one and the bottom half of the other. Looks like things are gonna really explode.

glad I picked TC now!
