tattoos on the neck/ jobs

What do you think? obviously it slims your chance of getting a job that is dealing with customers. Bullshit jobs (where any one can work) would probly pick a guy with no tattoo vs a guy with tattoo.
BUT.......
What if you are right out of college. Just graduated. Are they more judgemental than the "lower" work foce or are they less?
imk wondering cause i have a tattoo on my neck and ill be pissed if i cant get a job in my field because of it.
(yes, i know its stupid to get a tattoo on the neck, but to each there own)
I think we're becoming more acceptant to tattoos than years ago. They are no longer taboo. it's been replace by big ass holes in the years and hanging people from their pierced nipples. and even implanting horns.
what do you think of a man who has tattoos but,has a good degree. are corporations/firms (Private Consulting firms/ IBM/ DELL) just as bad as a Wal Mart greeter when it comes to tattoos?

sadly as it is, the corps have a company image to maintain, and will especially eye you down when it comes to customer service positions, even still to this day.
although it works the other way around too i suppose, while a tattoo might not get you that teller position at wachovia, it would probably increase your chances at hot topic, while at the UPS warehouses, it will not matter what you look like..

Do not get an extremely visible tattoo somewhere like your neck, unless you are a professional already, working in a field you know it doesn't matter.
It will matter, to someone. I guarantee your tattoo will be "misunderstood" "a hinderence" and will keep you down.
So unless you have a skill which is and always will be in demand, and/or can accept working bullshit bottom tier jobs with low salaries.
When i think about hand/facial/neck tattoos i think about how people will perceive me outside of my own circle.
IE: it will effect your life when you go to small towns, airports, cop shops, and other parts of the world, to name a few.
I think if your asking your question, you probably haven't thought this through enough.
However that said, there are people who are heavily and visibly tattoo'd who are very successful.
in the unskilled and professional world it will effect you.
in the skilled workforce it will effect you less.

Unfortunately, or not depending on your outlook...how you dress and how you look sends a message to everyone who sees you. We are a fast paced society where people don't have time to embrace your "thou" . They make quick judgments and objectify / stereotype. With visible tattoos you are announcing to the world that you are of a certain strata. Sucks . Yes. But that's the way it is . Personal relationships are completely different - well somewhat different.
BUT we are all sending messages every day - that's why you got the tattoo in the first place. right???

And where we had thought to be alone, we shall be with all the world.

It really depends on the individual doing the hiring. I've personally seem people not get a job for having tattoos. I also worked at a porn shop years ago with a guy who had his entire face covered in a tattoo.

Oh - then you are fine. Once you are in the door its all good. Once you can prove yourself without all the preconceived notions you are fine. I work with guys making over a million bucks a year who have all sorts of tattoos you cant see and they keep them covered up. BUT they do talk about them from time to time. Granted they also get mocked for the tattoos from time to time as well.
