I thought Lateralus was pretty brilliant on mushrooms but unfortunately I can't agree.. I feel Shpongle blows it away - I haven't found anything remotely close to it

yeah they are good though. very mind blowing to listen to them while stoned. Haven't had the pleasure to do it while tripping though

for me any mellow based music most of 70's shit through floyd. Not a good idea to listen to thinks like slipknot or shit like that unless ur into that.....

Floyd is a large influence on Simon Posford (Who does most of Shpongle).
and Juicemonkey, I only praise them so much because I've tripped to tons and tons of HIGHLY recommended CDs but none have done it to me like Shpongle (there's an army of people who agree.... once they actually buy the CDs and try it)

Caberet style music...kind of 1930's genre..Cab calloway to name one, can be very invigorating on low doses. And next time i do a high dose im listening to physics lectures, and space time lectures by steven hawking...

I wasn't disagreeing. Consider me a part of that 'army'.
One day here, i'll get the chance to do it while tripping. So for now, I just do it stoned. And i have to say...nothing's done it for me like shpongle. Well, floyd does. But that's a different type of music. yeah shpongle fucks me up
this is a honest experience.
I smoked some pot by myself...and immediatley after...i went and got my expensive big headphones...put shpongle on...and layed on my bed in the dark. Now, lots happened. I'm not gonna explain it all. But i was having massive visuals in the dark...lots of them(and i barely ever get visuals off weed). And then...i tried to do some meditating...flow with music. go deep. Took me awhile...but i eventually 'fell' deeper and deeper into the music. and then, for like 10 minutes....I was out of my body. And looking at myself/around the room. I never had anything like this happen before...and am sort of skeptical about such things. I was looking at myself from 'outside'. i looked around my room. It was FUCKED!!!!. kinda freaky actually. i'd make faces and at the same time...could see myself making them from 'outside'. Than the music stopped(last song)...and BLACKNESS.
I am actually about to go do the same thing in about a half an hour. hopefully...with the same results

Which Shpongle do you have (do you have it on mp3 or CD? if you dig the mp3s... holy FUCK you should buy the album - the details are TENFOLD)?
The last track on "Are You Shpongled?" called "...and day turned to night" is the most fucking amazing organization of sonic manipulation I've ever experienced - a 20-minute crescendo with every trick in the book and a full new book of tricks thrown right in your face.
Try making a 20 minute piece in 7/7 guys..... holy FUCK!

fuck sorry to post MORE about Shpongle.. but something you said really hit me:
"I hate to blast music when I'm tripping... my senses seem so hightened. I like the music to be part of the world around me, not the dominating force."
hehehe like it says on the cd-insert of Shpongle 1 - "Shpongle is a place.."
it CREATES an ever-changing environment around you, build of reverb and every special effect you can come up with X10, and then sends various pieces of kick-ass music through this environment 
It won't dominate (often), but will DEFINITELY help shape the most psychedelic "world around me" that you'll ever encounter

yeah that track is amazing. Yeah, unfortunetly i only have mp3s. I burned the album 'are you shpongled'. BUT....i also, unfortunetly, couldn't get the song 'divine moments of truth'. I tried for a long time. Just couldn't get it. So i put hicksville on it instead.
So yeah, i'm definetly buying both albums when I get the money. Probably after xmas. Maybe a week before. Can't wait.
I just don't wanna wait though So i burned it. and also am trying to burn the other album right now. But it's hard to get the songs. It's a lot different i noticed. Does it still have the same 'trippyness' to it? basically saying...does it get you as 'fucked'

Hehe, I WILL end up buying the albums. I am slowly working my way through my list of CDs I must buy so I can delete the mp3s off my computer and in turn finally own CD quality version of all the albums I want.

Dead Can Dance is Awesome! Very powerful ambient music. I only have 2 tracks downloaded, but they both blew me away.
NINs Fragile is very 'artistic' imo, but I would only listen to some of those lyricless tracks if tripping. A Warm Place is an awesome track for tripping, so is Into the Void.
I WILL purchase some Shpongle! From what I've heard (mp3z), it is definately unique, wierd music.
Astral Projection is my favorite Psy-trance artist(s). Kaballah (sp?) is imo, their best track, although I have not heard all of them.
Juno Reactor is a wonderful mix of tribal, trance, ambient and industrial music. Download theze tracks- Shark and Samurai.
Dark Soho is pretty awesome.
Aphex Twin- kicks ass! The hardcore erratic stuff from Druks inspired me in my own music making. Its almost as if it's a mathmatic formula- it's so chaotic and yet it fits so perfectly. His ambient stuff is good too.
