wicker thanks man! i will isolate them if i see any more funny business, but these mutants don't seem to be spreading or causing any harm
ok i have a question for you guys....it appears there is some variation here, i know mushrooms don't have phenotypical expressions like weed (or do they?)
some are growing with a skinnier stem, and a lighter cap, which is pointier
you can see the difference like night and day in this pic, 2 "skinny stem" guys on the right side of that cake
can someone explain this to me?
should i keep these seperate for potency testing?
i'm going to take a few bongloads of this "caboose" (trainwreck x bigbud)  and head to walmart to get a dehydrator.
should i wait and take them all at once? or is it ok to harvest a few at a time?

Brain, I would have to say those are just small shrooms. When they start to machure, it seems to me that the caps usually get lighter in color. Those little guys look like they may break there veils soon. I can't tell exactly cause the pic is from the top view. If the veil is stretching, they are probably about machure. I usually pick mine as the veil is about to break or a soon as it does, unless you want to print them...then wait longer. I harvest my shrooms as they machure, until there are no shrooms or just pins. The pins will survive the next dunk and roll and continue to machure. It seems like the first and second flush can run together. Just be aware if you harvest them all at the same time...you may have the more machure ones dump spores all over and make a mess. Anyways nice job bro!

I usually harvest my mushrooms as they mature rather than all at once, usually when the veil begins to tear. Sometimes I'll leave a cluster alone if some of the mushrooms are opening their caps and some aren't, but yeah, otherwise, there's no harm in picking a few off at a time. If you leave a mature mushroom too long while you're waiting for the rest to mature, it'll drop spores and make a big mess of your fruiting chamber. Where possible you'll also want to pick off the aborts (the caps of aborts will turn a very dark brown and will eventually turn black) as if you leave them too long they'll rot. There's no issue with leaving an abort if you can't get to it without risking pulling off an immature mushroom as well, though. You should definitely collect aborts as they have a slightly higher potency, per weight, than mature mushrooms do.
I'm no expert but I'd say the skinny shrooms are just a result of genetic variation... with multispore inoculation you can get widely varying results, even from the same cake.

thanks guys...there's at least a few in there ready to harvest.
just got back with a nice dehydrator...i'll pick out the few that are ready after some grub and a smoke....
i'll be sure to keep an eye out for aborts, and snap a few pics

ok guys i picked 30 or so.....sweeeeeeeet, and i'll harvest more tonight. i'm fucking thrilled haha  i owe it all to you guys though 
a few of them threw spores, should i be worried? ........
some of them are bruising a lot, some aren't, is this related to potency in any way?
wasn't sure about the aborts until i looked at the pics.....
a few of the big ones have aborts around their base, they'll be harvested tonight anyways
should i toss the aborts if the caps are black already?

no just the big one and its not even that big of deal when you pick
i do from here 
to here they are just less messy when they dont drop spores and a little more potent but when you grow you can just grow more

i've got the dehydrator set to 95deg since it's so dry around here
how do i distinguish between flushes? should i dunk every time i harvest off the cake? or do i just keep harvesting until the shrooms stop coming, then dunk?

when the others mature over the next 24-48 hours they will usualy stop growing for a few days that is when you dunk.

You would have a much bigger yield if you dunked and rolled your cakes. I always do, and I have pins coming out from almost every location on each cake.

Brain...GOOD JOB MAN!!! You will be having a yummy fungus dinner soon! and yes, I' am sure most would recommend a dunk and roll after this flush..You truly will get a better yield...Nice lookin shrooms tho!

I dunno... I dunked and rolled my cakes and got very unimpressive yields, though the shrooms looked great.
I think I'm going to crumble and case after my second flush rather and D&R again...

my next grow (pink buffalo) will be monotubs, i really want to try penis envy but i already have the p.b. syringe...
i'd like to case these but i'm in the middle of moving, don't have a place to sterilize casing right now

i dunk em all in the same container. I never ran into any problems. I have a LC of PE going right now! that is my next one. Right now im growing some Oak Ridge from Shroomy1  ...Im just a cake maker right now due to my living situation, but i will get more in depth as time moves on. Im tired as shit...just got done smoking a gram of spice with my dad and a friend...So its bed time for me... Good Job bro!
