my pf cake

i made a pf cake with 2/3 cup of vermiculte and 1/4 cup of brf and 1/4 cup of water. i mixed them together well and filled 2 6oz jars with cake mix left over.  did i put to much vermiculte into the mix?? will the jars still colonize?? thanks :laugh:

Yes. Time. I am also new, but patience is a must.

When I was making my 1/2 pint jars, I too found that the recipe I was using (1/2 cup verm, 1/4 cup ground brown rice, 60 cc's water) made just a little more than one jar's worth. For every four jars I filled, I would have one extra jar of substrate. At first I didn't think much of it, then I got paranoid about the extra stuff affecting the water content (as the recipe called for 60cc's water per jar), but in the end I have a bunch of rapidly colonizing jars with no unfortunate results.

extra ususally means something was done right. You don't want to pack or else it slows the time down dramatically. I learned that the hard slow impatient way.
