First time. Possible contamination?

Salutations!

First time trying this. I inoculated 4 jars of organic brown rice flower and fine vermiculite, boiled for an hour (no pressure cooker) and inoculated after burning the tip of the needle then cooling it with the alcohol wipe before injecting. I used bleach for all of my sanitation and it seems as if this was a poor choice. I believe 3 out of 4 of my jars have trich contamination, I tried to get the best pictures that I could. The color of the (mycelium?) could best be described as off-white or light cream color. The black mold in the picture is questionable? And of course, I think the only real mycelium I have is sprouting in the middle of this enormous black mold field. Opinions?

Only mycelial growth in the whole batch? There's an identical spot on the other side and they both line up with the injection site. These spots are in the middle of an ocean of the black mold pictured above. Shit.


The other three jars have this growth in it described above.

first off i use alcohol to clean everything...not saying that's where you went wrong but that could be a start. bleach works for some people but i have been happy with alcohol.  that black is definitely mold. could of been that the second you inoculated the air was just full of contams, or a bad syringe, or one of many things. the white is for sure mycelium (I'm sure you knew that) but it looks like your going to be throwing all that out:frown: now what i recommend from here is overkill but works for me...re-boil the bad jars for an hour to make sure and kill that black shit off. then when you go to dump em do it out of your grow room, or better yet out of your house.  then soak in a bleach/H20 blend and then clean really well and finish with wiping with alcohol. now i could be wrong on the black but I'm 99.999% sure its mold. anyway good luck and sorry for your loss...but we have all gone through it once. if this was a 100% sure hobby, everybody would be doing it.
