I have some malt extract that i got in about july and it was powder, i kept it in a dry dark place in storage for a bit now that i have come back to use it in agar the stuff has turned into a solid block, it is still in a sealed package i was just wondering is it still usable. It still has a light brown texture and seem to be brittle and could easly be crushed with a little effort.

Fighting the man the best way I can.

It absorbed moisture, I usually place mine in a large ziploc bag, carefully sealed. It should work okay.

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.
