Lazy bird seed innoculation
    #1113167 - 12/05/02 11:52 AM (14 years, 6 months ago)

Well i prepared a jar of birdseed cuz i made a syringe and had extra spore water, so i figured i could innoculate the jar with that. Unfortunately, my girlfriend got pissed off at the mess and thinking i was done (i told her id clean when im finished) cleaned off the entire counter!! Spore water included!! :frown:
So i was thinking of how to innoculate it, the jar was really poor for syringe, and i figured i could take a mycelial sample from an old casing. So i took about 3 tiny, almost completely covered in fuzzy mycelium aborts, sterilized my hands and put them in the jar. I shook the contents up and left the jar to sit........
I don't think there is much chance of success because the tiny aborts may rot, or the unsterilized specimens could introduce contam, although i did not expose the opening to air for more than a few seconds.
Do you guy think it may work?!?

No i dont think it would work due to the aborts would rot and cause contamination as you said. You could try and transfer some mycelium from underneath the old caseing to as long as you have kept it sterile. Other than that you would probably need to start from scratch ie new spore syringe.

Fighting the man the best way I can.
