today's find at horse area in SE Michigan
    #11114739 - 09/23/09 08:46 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

Habitat:
SE Michigan, horse staging area in a state park
Lots of horse poop everywhere. It had been raining for the past two days.

Well here are some of my finds today.
please help id.

1. found growing in horse poop
looked like there were some slight bluing/purplish at the base but can't see in photo.
Spores seem to be black from what dropped onto the top of a lower cap.

2.found this one by itself about 10' away from #3
kind of sure spores are black, lol.

3. found in horse poop as you can see.
spores seem to be black. There was a guy cutting the grass so I used my small shovel and scooped the whole pile into a paper bag.

4. Found on horse poop about 10' away from #3. Spores seem black.

5. in more horse poop, same thing as the rest.

6. same thing about 10' away, but just these two.

Yep Psilocybe coprophila (inactive), and a Panaeolus species.

Also here are a couple others I found in the woods.

7. this Amanita was slightly yellow threw the stem. is it a Amanita muscaria americana?

8. found lots of these under a bunch of cedar.

9. this one was really cool found on a dead fallen Hemlock, I am assuming it is Hericium coralloides.

So do you think #8 is a Amanita mira (Golden Coin Amanita)??

I really would like to nail this down because there are so many kinds of Amanita around here. It would be great to be able to id them when I see them.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, but it's just a $200 kodak easyshare v550 point and shoot I go a couple years ago, but it does the job I guess and it's small and light. I am going to hint to my wife about a SLR for Christmas, lol.
