Banging it up! Any thoughts?
    #11113896 -

So I don't have a bike tire (or any other tire for that matter) laying around my place.  I have been using my palm to bang and break up my grain jars.  Needless to say... my hands hurt.  Also, it is dangerous because the jars could break and take a good slice out of your extremity.

Anyways... what do you guys use to create a sufficient impulse impact for breaking up grain in jars besides tires?

I use this:

Lay it on the floor on its edge and bang the jar on it a couple or three times.  Works well for me.

About $4 at Home Depot.

I banged my grain jar on all kinds of shit, furniture, anything that wasn't ridiculously hard like steel.  The jar is more resilient than it seems.

Nice... I'll be sure to give that a try.  If it doesn't work; well, I'll just keep trying.

Thanks guys.  I guess I just need to start thinking out of the box more.

I still use my palm/thumb meat. I never seem to need to use much force in shaking them up. I use WBS if that matters. I had stopped using my palm/thumb meat at one point when a hot jar burst when i hit my palm/thumb meat with it. I barely made a scratch though thankfully. I thought it was just b/c jars break sometimes. It was actually that they sometimes break after just being taken out of the PC when they are still really hot. A duct tape roll would be a good suggestion if your hand can't take it.

Leave your jars in the PC to cool off, ya dork. If you have a hard time breaking up grain when its not hot, you're probably not putting any gypsum into the soak water.
