High dosage trips REQUIRE Garcia's first solo album, 'Garcia (1972)' Skip to 'Late for Supper,' and take it from there. It takes you BACKWARDS in time through the birth experience, noted by the cry of the infant BEFORE the slap on the bottom, ambient sounds from within the womb and into cosmic mind space ["...and we don't think so...we don't think so...don't think so...don't think...don't think...don't think...!GOD!" Then, a little comfort, and with 'The Wheel', a Buddhist metaphysic of Hinayana and Mahayana ["...Small Wheel turn by the fire and the rod...Big Wheel turn by the Grace of God...every time that Wheel turn round...bound to cover just a little more ground..."]. I caught 50-60 concerts from 1972-1994, and sometimes dream about being at a concert.

Du-u-u-de -
Greetings. I read that 'What's Become of the Baby?' is the creepy result of the Dead's experiments with STP. I used to have to skip that track during heightened awareness.

Right here my long lost friend.....how could I miss out on a thread like this ...I just happen to be listining to New Potato Caboose right now recorded in 1968 at the shrine Auditorium in LA ...It's on a CD called Two from the Valt

Well boys and girls before I get started (Freak PM Me) and I would have gone with Box Of Rain LOL....

Going into Lovelight right now god I love Pigpen....Well all great stuff has been suggested and no doubt that live bootleg is the way to go...but Dick has put out some great stuff "Dix pix".

My favorite years are 1968 for raw energy and rock, 1972 for the great songs that Hunter and Garcia wrote, 1976 for the rare and excellent clean shows. I can go on all night but anyone feel free to PM me for trades I have about 3,000 hours.

and Dude never give up until the magic happens because it will!!!!!!

Hey any hard core fans go here and post:

Ripple

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung,
Would you hear my voice come thru the music,
Would you hold it near as it were your own?

It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken,
Perhaps they're better left unsung.
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air.

Ripple in still water,
When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.

Reach out your hand if your cup be empty,
If your cup is full may it be again,
Let it be known there is a fountain,
That was not made by the hands of men.

There is a road, no simple highway,
Between the dawn and the dark of night,
And if you go no one may follow,
That path is for your steps alone.

Ripple in still water,
When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.

But if you fall you fall alone,
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home.

Easy to get confused dude the band did something like 3,000 different songs in shows and albums over 30 years!

I've been listening to them for 27 years seen over 100 shows and still can't get enough...........The Other Ones at MSG were un-real!

Morning Dew is on now

Skippin' through the lily fields I came across an empty space,
It trembled and exploded, left a bus stop in it's place.
The bus came by and I got on, that's when it all began,
There was cowboy Neal at the wheel of the bus to never ever land.

Hey there Markos:) I read an interview with Garcia where he refered to the entire Aoxomoxoa recording session as the dead's "Stp album"(much in the same way as the 1st dead release was "the dieter's speed" album

I have an embossed metal, full-color, record-album sized AOXOMOXOA reproduction hanging on the wall that faces my bedroom door. Always loved that artwork, and missed the opportunity to obtain a 3'x4' poster back in the 90's, which I would've had framed. Last time I saw the poster sold was at the Englishtown Dead concert in '77. Mountains of the Moon still charms me. I used to wish myself into the group of people printed onto the back of the original album cover.

hopefully this wont sound stupid but:

To me , im not a huge dead head or anything but I do like them. When i listen to Terrapin Station, it makes me think that the picture that is painted in the song reminds me of the place euphoria comes from when you get that warm feeling in your stomach, usually when high

Either way I kinda think of a place named Terrapin Station as the place that everyones collective peacefulness comes together and turns into one common place where there might be trouble but its just a mystical land that evil and cruelty is nonexistant.

Thats just my uneducated feeling on it. Im sure if I knew a lot more on the dead and the reason this song was created im sure I would prolly see it different.

Here is a list of really good ones that aren't as highly publicized as many of the dead songs out there. although i am opposed to downloading the dead, that is the only way you can find some of these songs it seems any more.

Dark Hollow (acoustic)
Run for the roses (Jerry's acoustic)
Ripple (must get the live acoustic)
Friend of the devil (acoustic) ******************
wharf rat
birdsong (acoustic)
On the road again (acoustic)
Dire wolf (acoustic) ***********************
Iko Iko
Terrapin Station (live)
looks like rain (live)
Fire on the mountain (live) ********************
St. Stephen (live) *******************
Cumberland Blues (live, empire pool, wembly 1972)
china cat sunflower (live, olympia theater, paris 1972)
wish you were here (a cover they did of the floyd, live)

i have much much more but that is a definite start for quality dead!
