How long should it take for knots to re-appear?

My cakes are on day 5 in the terrarium. Before I birthed, dunked, and rolled them, they had a bunch of little hyphal knots in the jars. the knots were all right around the area where the myc met the dry verm layer. The jars were upside down so I guess that's where moisture/FAE was highest.

Anyway, I only have 2 fruits so far and they both started in-vitro. What's the average wait time before the myc starts knotting up again and I see clumps of pins? They are in a shotgun terrarium with humidity constant 95%+, 15w flourescent 12on/12off, mist+fan 2x per day.

give it a few more days, my first grow, harvested a few days ago had one pin invitro, so i skipped birthing and dunking i only got about a gram dried but i saved a pin :P

but after i had birthed i didden't see the formation of knots/pins for 3 days. good luck!

Here's a pic of my largest fruit. 5 days old. What can I do to make it grow faster? Do I need to mist more, fan more, or both?

Genetics, poor substrate, and insufficient light are three possible reasons for short fat fruits. You might want to ditch the fluorescent and get one of these.

I'll look into that. The Fluoro has only been on 'em for 1 day... before that they were just getting indirect light from the window. What exactly do you mean by 'poor substrate'?

It depends on a few things.. mainly genetics some times it can take up to a week for another flush to start.. sometimes it will start pinning again just hours after dunk.. they do what they want.

A poor substrate would be a substrate that does not provide enough nutrients to the mycelium, or is too compact, or too wet, or too dry, etc.

My guess is lighting. The light that I posted is less than $10.00 and lasts for years. If everything else is good, it's got to be lack of adequate lighting.

I'd try giving it a FEW minutes of direct sunlight a day until I got the right light bulb. :imo:

I always see knots before I even harvest my first flush. Right after I pick the fruits and dunk I have more waiting to be picked in 3 days. Though Im not real thorough about getting every pin and abort off when I harvest

I read something that veda_sticks posted like 4 years ago saying that shrooms grow like a balloon and the only variable in terms of speed/size is how much water is available to them. That being the case, is it safe to say that if I mist more the fruits will grow faster? I have been trying not to mist *too much* because I don't want to get excess growth of fuzzy myc.

Out of the 6 times or so a day I fan I only mist twice. My first grow went horribly because of excess misting and waterlogging
