I thought my shrooms were not potent. I was wrong.

I made tea from a few grams of dried shrooms the other day and got very little from it. So last night I took 5-6 grams and powdered them in a coffee grinder. Then I soaked this with brandy (2 oz). I drank this down and chased with a beer. I don't remember much after that, It hit like a ton of bricks. :blush: I don't know how long after but my nice neighbor walked me home and got me to lay down after a while, I couldn't talk, could barely see and hear. I layed there with eyes shut and when I opened them  I looked around the room and had no idea who I was or what I was doing there. It was probably the scariest thing I've ever done.
The dose was too high but I think this must be an efficient way to take them. :cool:

Yes, I powdered them and steeped them in hot water,then strained in a coffee filter. Should I have boiled them?

No... heat destroys psilocybin. Boiling would not have been a good idea.

I didn't say it didn't work, but it reduces the overall potency by a great deal.

In other words, it's a waste of shrooms.

sounds fun although i dont recomend consuming alchohol with mushrooms, thats jsut my oppinion though

This is false. Many people boil their mushroom tea with little loss of potency.

It is true that heat destroys psilocybin but the only time you have to worry about heat is smoking them. (from my knowledge) but then again I never have boiled shrooms, always ate them straight or in a powdered liquid form.... so dont make any decisions based on my saying

People say that if you cant smoke them, why can you boil them and they still work?

It is because a boiling pot is much much cooler compared to an open flame of lets say.... a lighter

Light boiling may not have a significant effect on psilocybin, but it does on psilocin.

Different shrooms have different amounts of each. If your shrooms are all psilocybin, and no psilocin, then you won't notice a difference.

If your shrooms are mostly psilocin based, then you will notice a big difference.
