i dont have a pressure cooker does this work well?

i was wondering how well this works, and if it does work well how much of everything should i put in there?? (vermicule, rice, etc)

I recommend steam sterilizing if you don't have a PC.

I agree that steam sterilization is the way to go if you don't have a PC. Microwaves have a nasty tendency to dry things out, and a dry substrate will not do you very good.

get a rack,or wire mesh,put in pot,,,,boil water,turn down heat till,light boil,no splashing,,enough water to cover about a inch of the jar,,,,hour later done.....

Yes, boiling pf substrate jars works just fine.
Make sure you boil them for an hour and let them cool long enough before innoculating.

hey i've tried the boiling method many times! i don't have a PC either. the secret is to slow boil so the water doesn't splash inside (water MUST NOT GO INTO THE JARS) and the trick number two is to let the jars cool inside the pot after the boiling.

with these 2 tricks i inoculated 15 jars 2 weeks ago anbd they are now almost 100% colonised and i had NO CONTAMINATIONS!!! not even one!!! and i am a very newbie;-)
