2 liters,,a pitcher should work well...just make sure the temp stablizes to your desired temp before you use the chamber,,

Make sure the fish tank heater stays underwater the whole time as if to much h2o evaporates and the glass of the heater is in air it will crack and kill the heater.So top up water regulary :-)
