Maybe we should be trying to solve the fact that so many of these seemingly quiet people have hidden desires towards violence? It seems to me that someone who is only a few drinks away from doing shit like this is virtually identical to someone that already is doing it. Alcohol and many drugs don't really change you at all, they just bring your true self to the surface.

Amen man - I don't know about you BUT behind my "walls and inhibitions" are NO desires to beat another person.

Except Carrot Top. He's a dead man if I make it to Vegas.

Not in any way am I saying it should be illegal. That would just cause more problems. However, if all drugs were legal, I have a feeling this world would be a better place(somewhere down the line) and there will be much more awareness. Our educational system would most likely improve too.

We are just unfortunate to be ruled externally by these government bastards. They can kiss my ass, but I know they can never truly distract me from the truth.

Just be careful with whatever you do and think before you take in any substance.

No drug should be illegal

Ohhhh you can't ban people for stuff like that...much like alcohol this thread has provided much harmless fun as well as some good debate. Just don't participate. To quote Maya Angelou "If you don't like my fire then don't come around, because I'm going to burn one down"

holy fuck.. are you serious?

prohibition has been tried before. it failed. history will repeat itself- that includes but not limited to: gangs, illegal alcohol, bootleggers, cartels, raised prices (potentially), unknown substances in said alcohol, etc.

i can't believe people still believe in prohibition. retards.

I suggest you look a little further than America. there's alot of countries where selling, possessing and drinking alcohol is a serious offense and can put you in jail for quite some time. And have stable societies

And that means prohibition does not automatically lead to those things. But then again its America where government intervention is usually doomed to fail.

proposing such a stupid idea, especially in america, a country founded on the ideals of freedom, is especially stupid.

OP - Just like how people talk about the horror stories oh psychedelics; going crazy, yelling, causing a scene, becoming violent, going crazy etc. Alcohol doesn't make everyone a violent idiot tool, only a very small percentage of people (who, like with psychedelics, don't properly dose themselves.)act like that, let responsible adults like myself and many others enjoy ourselves the way WE want.

Re: Alcohol is pure stupidness in a bottle [Re: Velazquez]

I would rather see our social mindset towards alcohol change than prohibition, which obviously does not work. It really is a garbage drug, which has destructive properties far outweighing any potential positives. There is, of course, the argument "I should be able to put whatever I want in my body," which is valid. However, so much harm is inflicted by alcohol on those who do not even use it; drunk drivers, assaults, destruction of families, etc. So when you are putting something in your body that ends up causing harm to others, there is a problem. It is a similar argument for gun control: on one hand you should be able to own your own gun for self defense and leisure, however other people end up in harms way because there are always those who are irresponsible. So the question is, as with anything potentially dangerous, should we restrict the rights of those who use it responsibly because of the harm caused by those who use it irresponsibly? Is it right that a young girl gets killed by a drunk driver just so you can legally sip a bourbon after work?

But, as we have seen with every other attempt at prohibition, it doesn't work and people do it anyways. So we need a social change rather than a legal one. Perhaps if all drugs were legalized alcohol consumption would go down. Many people drink because it is socially ingrained as O.K, but would never try anything illegal. If, for example, MDMA was just as socially acceptable in straight society as alcohol - with adds for E during the superbowl - would many people who now drink take MDMA instead? I would argue that it is a far better, and safer, social lubricant than booze.

This isn't anything we will see in our lifetimes, because even if drugs were legalized, it would still take a long time before they become socially ingrained.

Yes they are illegal, but alcohol is often the fuel that causes people to break those laws.

If everyone used it responsibly there wouldn't be a problem, but those who don't often cause a lot of harm to others. There will always be retards, so, as I said above, is your right to drink responsibly more important than the damage caused by those who don't use it responsibly?

I'm actually on the fence with this one.
