huh?
terrible idea

even if it tastes bitter it doesn't mean its active.

proper identification is much better. Tasting random cacti is no way to identify them.

I just plan on brewing up two pounds of the green outer flesh and drinking that.

If its active, Ill trip.
If its super active, I'll trip balls
If its inactive, I will probably throw up.

The size cutting Im brewing is about the same size as the one in the pic.

Cause a lot of people really don't know what a cuzzy is. I think its very distinguishable from a torch myself.

Until OP consumes/does an extraction on a few samples.. the ID is in the air, is it not?

Cuzco should mean inactive, and Torch should mean active. If it doesent already, then it should, it would put this BS to rest. Appearances to hell. They can be botanically classified after the chemistry is established. It should have been done this way from the start IMO, it would have killed these vendors sellings inactives, plus debunked all this back and forth ridiculous identification games.. (that comment is a generalization, not aimed in any direction, so dont take offense anyone)

This is pretty much why phylogeny is slowly replacing the standard appearance based taxonomy.

It's not about activity, cuzcoensis is still active to an extent. It's about genetics, cuzco is green with white spines and grows about as fast as san pedro(backberg), if not slower. Peruvianus has a bluish hue to it grows large and fast and has brown spines. When placed side by side it's fairly distinguishable. That's not to say some are indeed hybrids and things can get a little confusing, but if you know what you're looking at you can tell whether its more peruvianus or cuzcoensis.

What it comes down to is people are misidentifying peruvianus as cuzcoensis simply because they are inactive, the fact of the matter is there are some 5 or so varieties of peruvianus and most of them are very low in activity, but that does not mean they are not peruvianus. All because one test with one cactus came back with high alkaloid content people assume all 'true' peruvianus must be active.

Peruvianus is not the cactus you seek for a mescaline experience. San pedro and bridgesii are the way to go until you have sorted out this peruvianus mess by getting all the varieties and testing for yourself, like I'm working on.

I havn't tried it yet but Im leaning towards the weak variety.

I licked the fresh cut flesh and found it WAY less bitter than some of the pedros Ive come across
