i posted recently about having abdominal pain/some blood in stool. I went to my county hospital which offers help for the uninsured(which actually seems to be lacking help). That place is filthy and filled with shady looking individuals(many cops hanging around) and the wait to see a doctor is ridiculous! I waited a grand total of about 10 hours. I went there last tuesday telling them I have abdominal pains that shifts around and I had little signs of blood in my stool. They took urine and blood samples and the came out fine(assuming they actually checked). my doctor was a student and seemed to keep fucking up. He stuck some shit in my ass to check for blood and says it's negative showing no blood. They have me wait a few more hours to get a ct scan, and then end up telling me i'm being discharged. SUCH AN UNNECESSARY WAIT! They don't know whats going on and just hand me a paper basically saying to return promptly if I have certain listed symptoms(some which I came in there for)..oh and the lab report also states that there WAS blood found. I don't know who or what to believe. I ask what I do about my abdominal pain which has been lasting for 3 days and the doc who discharges me says "oh you have abdominal pain?". So he prescribes me some anti-spasmodic medication "dicyclomine". The pharmacist at walgreens tells me that they shouldn't have prescribed it to me without ruling out certain potential disorders/problems and if i choose to take it then head straight to the emergency room if my problem gets worse. She was shocked that they prescribed me that medicine so easily without diagnosis. This worrys me and I chose not to take the meds. oh and they set me up an appointment to see a specialist on dec. 26th! too far down the line for my symptoms i think.
I return the following friday due to pain still being pretty constant and I also notice my stools are green and mucousy with no real traces of blood. I also notice nausea bubbling up(i threw up some really acidic liquid in my mouth yesterday but accidentally swallowed immediately due to accidental reflex). Once again I wait about 10 hours again to see a doc and this time a young lady doctor asks me my story and I tell her that it seems to have gotten worse and I would really like to get a scan to see whats going on inside. She gives me a rectal exam TWICE to check for blood(second time using her fingers..and yes, she was pretty darn cute!). anyways, no blood is shown and she leaves for a bit. She comes back with some other doctor who presses in my stomach/abdominal areas for a few seconds and just says "he's fine" and leaves with asking nothing. the lady doctor tells me it could just be a bug or stomach virus and to just try not to worry about it. Apparently I am not worth being given a quick scan to ensure my safety. Once again I am given a paper saying to return promptly if I notice certain symptoms(some which I have already mentioned feeling). That fucking pisses me off, but what can I say to them? its a business.
Here I am today(the following wednesday) and last night I felt pretty bad sharp pains mainly on the right side. I have nausea at times, pains sometimes on my lower back, and sometimes pains in my groin(testicals and penis included..however my pee looks fine and it doesnt bother me when I use the washroom). I also suffer from major anxiety prior to this experience and I don't know what to do anymore. I feel like they just want me to go home until things get worse so they don't have to perform some possibly unnecessary tests for the sake of saving a few bucks. I never got a diagnosis and I feel like going to the ER is just gonna be another waste of time. Don't they realize that I am not crazy and making this up? don't they realize that them just leaving me stranded is probably putting me at much greater risk of serious complications? Last night I was close to going to a different hospital regardless of being stuck with bills. I can always apply for hospital charity(which has successfully helped me a month ago for being sent to a hospital for a severe panic attack where I though I was about to die).
Any advice? I am worried about getting serious complications and want to know what in the world is fucking with my body! I just realized last night that even if I get insurance now, it is a pre-existing condition and I won't be covered for this problem at all. my life already seems to be crumbling at such an early age(21 years old). I have no income and my mother just filed for bankruptcy. I can't seem to find a job for the life of me! everybody is having a difficult time, regardless of college up their sleeve.
Should I just go to a different(BETTER) hospital and see if they can help me?..or should I just wait it out and hope things work out?
I should mention that I have an appointment for a primary doctor which I have been assigned(don't know who..i have to wait until the 21st to register in the assigned health center) in 5 days. This appointment was for other issues but perhaps I can bring this up to him too and he can help me?
I never really required medical attention outside of a few physicals when I was much younger. I never had to deal with this stuff on my own.
*let me note that my father passed away after being sent home(a few hours later actually). His chest was KILLING him and could barely stand up. They gave him some tylenol and sent him home with a ruptured aorta. This makes me believe that doctors can be very negligent and adds much to my stress.
