Outdoor grow in NE Ohio?
    #11064791 - 09/15/09 03:53 PM (14 years, 6 months ago)

A few days ago i decided i wasnt gonna get a 3rd flush out of my brf cakes so i decided to try to spawn them outdoors. I crumbled the cakes into pre-soaked straw and mixed evenly. I filled up about 5 inches of the hole with straw/mycelium then covered it with about 1 inch of peat moss to keep moisture in. Im trying to figure out what my chances are of getting some fruit this fall. The temp here will be 70-80 high temp and 50-60 low... The strain used was B+ which ive heard does well in colder temps. Also I will be watering 1-2 times each day that it doesnt rain... Any thoughts on what i could do to help them fruit? or are my chances slim?

Careful not to over water. I had to learn the hard way. Check once in a while with a flashlight at night for slugs. Apparently they love to shroom.

Well i never had any fruit and its been almost a month since i set this up... about two weeks in, I went outside to investigate and when i dug up the peat moss, all of the straw was completely colonized! now 2 weeks later there is still no fruits and the area that i left mycelium exposed has died. the nights are down to almost 40 here now so im guessing this was the problem... or could it just be the rh?

It's too cold now but try again next year and you will probably be surprised.
