Or, I'm getting older.
I started drinking coffee while I was in the Army. I have to have plenty of cream an sugar in mine.
For a long time I just drank the generic brand coffee, it was OK Then one day I decided to try some of the Starbucks whole bean I had a grinder for my hobby so I decided to try it on some coffee
Boy what a difference!!!!
I have been a coffee lover ever since. I wanna get some green coffee beans and a roaster and make my own fresh coffee, I'm told there is no comparison
starbucks coffee is delicious! have you tried kaldi's? probably my favorite brand, a bit expensive though, like 8 or 9 bucks a bag i believe.

Ah good ol' coffee and weed!
I seriously can think of nothing better! its complete bliss!
And yes, drink coffee at night!
Whats the average amount of coffee one drinks per day?
I'd say a minimum for me being a pot of coffee, maximum, maybe 2.

best place to find coffee you like.
Yeah, I get the vast majority of my beans from local roasters.
Once you figure out what you like flavor-wise from coffee, it gets easier to get stuff you enjoy. Brazilian coffee tends to have a generic coffee flavor without many complex flavor tones. Other South American and Mexican coffees tend to have a brighter flavor a tangy bit of acidity. African coffees tend to have a lot of complex hard-to-define flavors.
Personally I like extremely dark roasts of South American and Mexican coffees for espresso, and medium roasts of African coffees for french-press or turkish coffee.

I'm not sure what coffee made turkish is...
What I'm talking about is finely powdered coffee in an ibrik that you heat up until it starts frothing, remove from heat and allow to cool slightly, then heat up until it froth again.

Nah, it's about as strong as espresso but the flavors are way different. The use of pressure in espresso pulls a rich creamy shot, almost syrupy. Turkish coffee doesn't get that kind of thickness to it, and it has a way different flavor profile from the prolonged exposure of the grounds to hot water. Really dark roasts make for heavenly espresso, but in my experience they make for relatively disappointing turkish coffee (and vice versa).
I've got a french press, an espresso machine, a moka pot ("stovetop espresso"), and an ibrik, and I use all of them reasonably often. I definitely use the espresso machine the most, but all of them have their uses (the stovetop espresso is good for when I want a larger amount of strong coffee but don't want to take the time to pull that many shots of espresso (my moka pot is a 10 oz model).
About the only two coffee contraptions I don't have are a vacuum pot (which looks really cool, but I've never seen anyplace selling them) and a plain old auto-drip coffeepot (which I have no interest in... drip coffee can be good, but the electric ones overheat the water before passing it through the grounds, then the hotplate underneath the pot cooks out all the good flavors... if you want good drip coffee you have to use a manual drip filter, basically like the filter part of a coffee machine but it sits on top of your cup and you pour the not-quite-coiling water through)

yah your right its prolly closer to french press but it requires a grind as fine or finer than espresso
actually most drip coffee gets underheated, there's only 2 coffee makers that are certified to drip at the required temp. i actually tested the water coming out of one of my mr.coffee's and indeed its nowhere near where it should be. off memory i think it was like 163 and again off memory i believe 204 or 212 is where you want it. and your currect 99% of drip machines have plates that are way way to hot and the coffee degrades quickly because of it.
i actually know where to find some vacuum pots online new, but im guessing you were talking about locally?

Any suggestions for a good place to buy fresh coffee beans?
Should I try to buy them on line or look for a local coffee shop
All I have atm is an auto-drip maker, I may need to invest in a french press too

if you go local ask them when the beans were roasted, if they don't know then fuck em.
there's some great online places for fresh green beans to roast yourself, the place i shop apparently has some fresh roasted beans but its $30 for 2lbs shipped which is a bit expensive. you can save some money roasting yourself tho. you can get some great green beans for around $5-8 a lb, some places buy in really big bulk and sell cheaper than that.
but yeah if you want fresh, don't buy anything from the grocery store, only buy something that you know when it was roasted, which will Polly be those little coffee stores and "maybe" Starbucks if they are still in business
as for french press, target is where i got mine, they range from like $10 to $40. depends on size and i also found out the glass may be different as well. i got the chambode or w/e, because it was the only one that said it was made of brocillica glass/aka real Pyrex. which you don't have to get but it will be more durable in the long run, the other ones were wrapped in a plastic shell so it seems that might help alot too

Brewing a cup as I type. I love coffee. I love weed. I love combining the two... especially at night, the best combo.

sweetmaria's google it thats where you go for high quality beans
buying a roaster is a bit tricky however....there's a SHITLOAD of pro's con's to all the machines, its a huge headache for someone like me who studys all the angles before making a purchase.
also there's a shitload of smoke involved. if your roasting close to a pound of coffee and your roasting medium to dark in general terms im guessing something around 1-4 cigs worth of smoke. and open window really doesn't cut it in the long run. an air roaster will produce the least smoke overall, it can't roast very dark for starters, and it does less at a time. however if your in this for the long run you'll want to roast a bit more coffee at a time, so its the bremor or hottop. most likely your going to want to set up a good exhaust system to the outside, or actually roast outside. you pretty much have to be nearby the whole time too, altho with the bremor and hottop you can cheat a little bit

This is what I've been told as well.
You will be happy with a french press!

yeah a french press is nice, it just sucks having to boil water all the time. a good grinder is pretty key as well
