Does anyone know how she gets the subjects to appear to be almost floating off the page like that? Is there something under them, or is it a special technique?

before i got a decent cam, and back when i had my all-in-one, i would get similar pictures by scanning a subject on the copier tray with a backdrop over/behind them.
