you are a human

So you say...

All I can say is that my nature is only 'I'

'I' includes this human expression & what comes with that (personality etc)

But i also look to see... is the nature of 'I' particularly human?

:peace:

So anytime a person makes a weak argument they are trying to convince themself?

In this forum, yes.

So basically you're just projecting.

Basically, I'm right.

Probably not you,

Any way I look at it, it seems like a stretch to connect a concept of human specialness (if there is such a thing) or lack thereof, to either a presence or absence of bacteria on the body. Maybe carrying so much bacteria makes humans special cause we support so much "alien life" and without us those tiny little bacteria wouldn't have a home.. or not.

As your summation of Icelanders argument pretty much is my understanding of it. As it stands it is a weak argument.

My argument that his argument is weak, is well founded, as evidenced by how easily it is refuted by your summation of his argument.

Ahhh, that's your argument. Fair enough. I think the bit that some of us were questioning was the bit about [weak argument = trying to convince oneself]. That seemed like a bit of a leap to suggest that he was trying to "convince" himself based solely on an assessment of the strength of his argument in this forum..

It is very tempting to do so, if I think of some plausible stuff to fill in the leap, I may.
