Casing whole, intact cakes??
    #1104991 - 12/02/02 08:50 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I can't find a satisfactory answer to it. In the 50/50 Casing tek, it says that cakes can be crumbled up, but using whole cakes is "better". I'm a little confused here. Would I just place my cakes side by side in the casing tray, and perhaps fill in the spaces with crumbled cakes?

Maybe I'm an idiot (ok, admittedly on the topic of mushroom cultivation I am), but I've read all the casing teks in the "Find/Grow" section and for the most part they aren't very descriptive to a complete novice (with a few notable exceptions, the 50/50 for instance). I'm looking to case about 12-15 cakes, and I have two rubbermaid "terrariums" (each about 2 feet long by 1.5 feet wide by 1.5 feet high). Would something like 50/50 be my best choice?

Any help is appreciated

I dont know what they mean by that either, maybe slice the cakes?

Anything that holds in moisture can be used as a terrarium.

Hawke just means its better to slice your cakes and fill in the spaces with crumbled pieces.

50/50++ is my favorite casing tek.
