Finally Got A Picture Of The Pain

Been getting worse for the better part of 13 years. I finally got a MRI yesterday and it is pretty obvious what the problem is. I circled it in case you dont notice it. I go back to the doc next week to talk about what we can do about it.

I'm just happy to have proof of an injury. So many people use back injuries as an excuse to get out of work that it seems to have a terrible stigma attached to it.

Dunno. I just got the cd of the mri when I left the mri place last night and checked it out on my computer. I'm going to talk to the neurologist about it next week.

looks like your disc is crushing your spinal chord.  that, my friend, is extremely painful.  my mother actually had the same problem but she cured hers without surgery.  not to be rude but if your over weight, that may be a problem.  your back is supporting all of your body weight cause a shift that shouldnt exist in your spine causing your disk to rupture and actually pinch your nerves and spinal chord thus, causing your pain.  if you are over weight, drop some pounds, its a good way to self cure it!  you could have also caused it from lifting too much weight over the years.  you picking up alotta heavy objects has alot of wear n tear on your back.  in this case, you may need surgery to fix it.  good luck, the spin is a pretty tough problem!

That is either a bulging disc or it could be ruptured.  Either way it is pressing on the sciatic nerve which is the reason for your ass/leg pain.  You didn't mention any ass or leg pain, but I know you've got it because I have a ruptured disc as well.  Mine is one disc lower than yours.  I have good news and bad.  Good news is the pain does diminish over time ( like 1-3 years time).  Bad news is your disc will not regenerate to its normal state. 

The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in your body.  It runs all the way down to your feet.  Take caution if they recommend surgery.  I chose not to have surgery because it doesn't help in the long run.  Most people have to go back for surgery again within 10 years.  Good luck and try to take life one day at a time.  I've learned to live with my pain.  Now it's just a part of me.
