First,
Are you sure they r pins on the other side, or myc? pins look like baby mushrooms (so to speak). If the rest of the jar is totally colonized (white all over), u can take the cake out and cut out the contamination with a sterilized knife or whatever, just make sure u be as sterile as you can be. U can then birth the cake, or put it back in the incubator for a few more days

Yes there are 100% small mushrooms. Is there no risk to consume the mushrooms (because of my cat )when the cake was contaminated or should i only make spore prints. Thx !

I think that contaminated mushrooms = contaminated prints but as you said the mushrooms aren't contaminated. Cut the contaminated part off and if there are anymore uncolonized areas take a hot stelized needle to em.

Ok, i cutted the area out and now i will see what happens. I will birth it and if the contaminations gets back i will throw away the cake.
But if there will be no new contamination it will mean that the shrooms arn?t contaminated - or am i wrong in this point ?
Thx !

As I point out everytime I see a post like this, contaminated cakes/casings should just be discarded. Some molds and bacteria can be extrememly harmful. Yes, you can cut out the visible parts, dab bleach or peroxide here and there, but in the end it's just not worth the risk. Mycellium is network, which can transfer toxins and such throughout the network, so just because the shrooms are on the other side of the cake, doesn't mean they aren't affected. Instead of spending time trying to beat an already going contam, spend the time trying to figure out where in your process the contam may have been introduced and then try again. I know most of the common molds aren't really dangerous, but the risk is just not worth it.

I agree completely with StS here. Get rid of it! Just because a contaminant is only growing on one side of a cake, does not mean that it hasn't already spread it's toxins to the mycelium. When in doubt, toss.
