replacement for gypsum/oyster shells?

I cannot seem to find gypsum or oyster shells anywhere locally and don't wish to pay $30 to ship something that costs $12. except that i can find gypsum for drywall at home depot. Can I use this? I am assuming not.
is there any substitute i can use to replace the gypsum/oyster shells? especially anything i might find in a hydro store?

Those are two different things- one is calcium sulphate, one is calcium carbonate.
Ground oyster shell is available at any pharmacy as a dietary additive. Pricey but available.

Or just boil it- it dissolves in water.

Most of us are pretty normal folks. We just have this weird hobby, you see...
Oh, and gypsum is gypsum. As long as it doesn't have antifungal additives, drywall will work ok. It will say on the side if it's treated. Another source for gypsum is Plaster of Paris. Either mix it, let it dry, then smash and boil, or you can just add a little to your water, it won't be enough to set up or anything.
