Do you mean they didnt have a gauge to tell you how high the presssure is? If so, thats normal. Most dont have those, they have a weight that jiggles when the pressure is reached. You should be able to get one for about 50 bucks.

ummm... actually standard pcooking time is 1 hour at 15 psi, and more time at 15 psi for larger jars. plus with a pcooker you can do substrates such as birdseed or rye, unlike with steaming/boiling.
