Craft store (like Michaels) Silica, commonly used to dry flowers. Cost depends upon amount but I'd estimate ~5 bucks?

Hardware stores, also Walgreen's. Damp Rid. Costs about $5-10, depending.

Other types are available, and there are other sources- but those two are simple.

The most common are

Anhidrous Calcium Sulphate (drierite and similar brands)

Silica gel.

Neither are restricted chemicals and are used all the time so noone will wonder why you are using them.

Silica gel is more expensive but can be regenerated in the oven or microwave to be used again and again. Just put in a cloth bag or similar in the microwave and heat until the coloured balls turn deep blue again (when used out they are pink)

Remember that it will save a lot of time and dissecant if you fan dry your fruits before putting them in the dissecant chamber.

Also, calcium chloride is another common one. It's sold in big bags as snow melt.

Forgot about that one.

The only problem is that the stuff sold as snow melt has already absorbed some water so is less effective.

Ideally you want anhidrous calcium chloride that is sold in sealed tubs as a dissecant but this is a lot more expensive. So it is probably cheaper to just use a bigger amount of the snow melting pellets.

In any case my favourite is the silica gel as it can be reused indefinately.

Will have Damp Rid in tubs and bags. Probably in the paint section. They may well have silica gel in the tool section or somewhere, ask around.

A cheap and easy way to find silica gel is cat litter.

The most expensive brands of cat litter (these no changing for 2 weeks etc) are often made of silica gel.

Just check the writing on the packet.

Gram for gram silica gel absorbs more water total so its great for drying out stuff thats moist. Calcium sulfate wont absorb as much water but it will get air drier, a sealed container with anhydrous calcium sulfate inside has only 5 micrograms of water per liter of air.
Both can be recharged by baking in the oven at 400°F for a few hours.
The indicating pink/blue kinds have cobalt chloride in as the indicator, its a toxic water soluble substance so keep it out of direct contact with edible mushrooms and try not to get it wet or breathe the dust.

Oh, and the fully hydrated calcium sulfate is called gypsum, its used in substrates and stuff
