a few of days ago I posted and asked about the possible reasons for my mushroom's extremely slow growth. I increased the fae and lowered the humidity slightly, and although there is new fruit coming up, it is all going at a ridiculously slow pace. Today I noticed that the first mushroom that came through has a dark line up the stem. Is this consistent with an abort, or is it something else?

Dark line is normal. Why would you lower the RH? Raise it back up.

it's possible that your substrate is too dry.

I lowered the humidity because there was a lot of myc growing on the caps. I read that is a sign of the humidity being too high. There's definitelty still plenty of humidity. Temp is hanging around 78, getting as high as 80 when I give it light.

I'm going to have to do some more reading. I was unaware that you could have too much Rh. I mean, how the heck to you get MORE than 100%? (unless, of course, you're at work or on a sports team. THEN it's 110%!!)

sarcasm?
a lot of the reading I did said that while the pins are forming it's necessary to have humidity as high as possible, but once the mushrooms begin to poke through the casing it's necessary to keep it between 80 and 85%. The rh on my fc right now is hovering around 80%

keep your humidity as close to 95-100% as possible.
are you doing cakes or bulk?
which ever it is pick it up and see if it feels light in your hands. lighter than when you birthed them. if so a good dunk will do wonders

RogerRabbit said: Dunking is an excellent way to re-hydrate your substrate between flushes. You can dunk large trays or tubs by placing in the sink or bathtub and allowing the faucet to fill the tub so the water runs over the side and down the sink drain. Dunk your bulk projects like this for two or three hours maximum. It doesn't take overnight to dunk a bulk grow the way it does for tightly packed brf cakes. The running water will prevent bacteria buildup during the dunk. Cakes can be dunked right in the jar they grew in by filling it up with water and placing in the refrigerator overnight with the lid on the jar. RR

this is not so much a sign of too much humidity as it is a sign of high humidity without enough FAE. I have consistently had enough humidity to condense on the walls, but 24/7 FAE, and never had that happen.
