Grow-box disguise?

Hi, I was thinking of growing some cubes from an all in one grow-box that I've seen online. I was just wondering, if anyone saw it in my room (who I'd rather not know) and asked what it was, what could I tell them? Obviously before they begin to fruit - after that it's clear that they are mushrooms. But the couple of weeks before they grow. Has anyone had this problem?
Also, would under my bed be a suitable place to grow them or do they need lots of light? First time grower obviously
Thanks

Grow kits are considered a rip off around here because for less money, you can build a superior set up.
Depends on what you are growing as far as light is concerned. Button mushrooms can be grown in the dark. Psilocybes require light to fruit.
If you are growing the later and need to hide them, this usually indicates growing in a home that does not belong to you. This is also frowned upon in these parts.

Answer: Because they're ugly and they stink.

Yes, sorry, psilocybe cubensis. Well it is my home, but if friends or relatives came round I would not want them to know. You say they need light to fruit? Is that just the last few days of cultivation or the whole process? I have done a bit of research but just a few things I'm not sure of. Thanks again and sorry for my newbieness

When you induce fruiting conditions, you want "daylight" or equivalent, (6500K), for twelve hours on, twelve hours off. I use this:

It's cheap and easy to find.

I use the same light bulb abd it has worked well for me. As for hiding them man, I have found that if you have a light in your closet you can easily set them up on the top shelf of your closet and take care of your light periods in there, turn it on when its time, turn it off when its time. I have used growbags though so I can really comment on a growkit. Honestly man, since your a new grower I would go to the mad season and check out the growbags, that is only if you arent planning on making this a hobby and just want some mushies. If your making this a hobby, dont even bother with the growkit, the shroomery shows all tools and supplies you will need to just make your own setup. Depends on how lazy ya are.lol j/k
Peace man.

Thanks. Yeah well I just want to see if I can do it first, and since these are supposedly impossible to mess up I think it's my best bet. The description on the website (mush e mart) says all you do is remove a cap and add water, then drain the water off. How hard can it be? If I was going to do it myself I think I'd probably contaminate them or something silly. I'm not bothered about growing loads - just enough to see me through the winter. Might wait till spring actually because liberty caps will be out soon - Yeehaa! Thanks again, D Oh yeah, I'll check those grow bags out too
