So..it's my first time. Now, I have had several things go wrong so far...so I am just trying to stay positive and hope that the universe picks up on my good energy. 1.) I ordered from Earths Tongue, and then found the 5,000 bad reviews on them. So, I was worried. 2.) My things arrived in 5 days, very well packaged, so I WAS glad for that. PHEW! 3.) Realized that what I ordered was NOT a grow bag, but a rye only bag for spawning. SHIT. 4.) Decided that casing could be a good route to take for my first time, so no worries on the rye bag. 5.)Soaked my hand in alchorub, flamed and wiped down the needle with ar, wiped down the inoculation sight with ar, and shot that 2 lb bag up with about 5 cc's of Cambodia cube. I injected the solution around the outside of the bag, and then gave it one good shake to get things well coated. I then placed the bag inside of a cardboard bankers box put the lid on and stuck it in the top of my closet. NOW here's where I have questions....
1.) I read that the desired temp for colonization of this strain is 81 degrees, however, I then read that the bags can stay at room temp, since they are better about keeping in the heat. Is this true, or do I need to rig up a nocturnal heat lamp, or something?
2.) I didn't order any casing soil because I didn't plan to be casing, I planned to be fruiting in the bag...so the supplies I need would be -tin foil baking pans -vermiculite -50/50 mix (I read somewhere that Jiffy Mix from Wal-Mart is good?) -a large plastc container (for fruiting) -perlite (for fruiting)
Is there anything I am missing?
So, for now I am just waiting, hopefully in 3 or 5 days I will see some white stuff, and then can go from there. Thank you to all who take the time to read this, and answer my questions. I am excited about this little project!!
UPDATE: I just lifted the lid on the box to scope out the bag...I know..leave it alone..but I SWEAR there is one tiny white patch of fuzz om one of the berries, I just shot it up yesterday at 2:30, so...is it possible to see a little growth this soon?

1) Mycelium does like to have warm temps when running, (just like under forest duff), however, a plethora of molds and other contaminates ALSO enjoy that same warmth. Mycelium will colonize at cooler temps though, and at a faster rate than any competitors. That is why many growers, (myself included), advise AGAINST an incubator. So, IMHO NO heat lamps.
2) a: I am confused about the tin foil baking pans for an in-vetro grow? b: Jiffy-Mix is a good bulk ingredient. c: (do not be offended here) You might be missing the "search post" function at the top of the page. You should see "Welcome Gangsta_Peach85". Next to that "Forum Index", and then "Search Posts". Go to search posts and type in a word or term that you are interested in. I also then type in the name of a trusted cultivator or someones opinion that I want to have. After hitting enter, all the posts that may have something to do with the subject I'm curious about, that the grower I've indicated wrote about, appear in a list. Viola! Easy, straight to the point reading without having to wade through a bunch of crap.
3) Yes. You can see growth that fast. Hopefully it's mycelium!
Sounds like you're having fun and doing a good first attempt. Welcome to the site!

Answer: Because they're ugly and they stink.
