these jars contain oyster mushroom mycelium. they have been growing well but brown yellow spots have appeared to grow on my mycelium. it doesnt look like a contam, is it mushroom piss? or fruit bodies forming?

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I just completed my first flush of my first cakes and I, too, had that yellow stuff taking an uninvited foothold on my otherwise pure white mycelium.  I wasn't very concerned at first because I took nearly every precaution against contamination that I knew of and my cakes were 80-90% colonized.  But as my mycelium growth slowed the "yellow stuff" seemed to be growing at a more accelerated rate.  I wasn't about to just toss them after investing nearly 2 months on them (I only had pint jars so colonization took a looong time), so I went ahead with the rest of the tek and decided next time I'd get some half pints.

Anyway, here's a pic of the cakes right after birthing:

And here's a shot of part of their first flush from a couple days ago:

So even though I don't have the knowledge or experience to give you any sort of definitive answer to your contam question, I do hope that this gives you hope not to give up on them.

Then again I haven't actually eaten any of these guys, but they look and smell just as they should.  If they kill me I'll let you know.

The mushrooms on the last picture are fine to eat. The yellow liquid is metabolites, something the mycelium produces to destroy contams. Antibiotic.

To the OP, that picture is way too close. I can't say for sure what's in that jar... can you back up a little?
