From what I hear, pe pretty hard to print. But here's this specimen with very well developed gills. The gills have darkened since yesterday and the frenulum is getting wrinklier.

Here is what a quick swab looks like:

When is the optimal time to try to print this thing? When it starts dropping spores? What if they don't start dropping on their own? Is this fruit fully mature?

I think the most common way is to just take a little jar whipe out with alchool and take some foil put at the bottom of the dish and whipe that off drop your cap on it leave it alone for I think a day and you should have a nice print.
Oh btw if ya get another one that is possible to print Id love to trade for one.
But gl

get a clean work area first. then clean a plate with alcohol, and place a large piece of foil on the plate, also clean with alcohol. then clean out a jar w/ alcohol. take a freshly picked shroom and cut the cap off with a clean cutting utensil. cut it off as close to the gills as possible. then place that cap immediatly on the foil and place the jar over the cap. let it sit for like 4-10 hours, the longer, the darker the print. clean the area around the jar with alcohol again. when it's dry you can remove the jar and, pull the cap straight up so to not damage the print. fold up the print into a sealed off square. also, i spray oust all around before all this, and throughout the process, to keep the air clean. when i'm done i place the square foil into a brand new zip lock bag. and don't forget to label it! i usually put the date too. hope this helps, if you get more than one print i'd love to trade for some, i've got PE6 and gulf coast to trade. maybe even some koh samui if you want. let me know

Too many fucking retards on this forum. You ask specific questions, and you get people telling you how to make a spore print.
Nevermind... I'll wait a few more days and see if it matures any more.

If your PE is anything like mine then you'll likely never get a print.
I tried to print over 18 of my caps and NOT ONE gave me squat.
You'll likely have to swab to get spores. I do not know of a good tek for swabbing PE, but I'd love to read some.

i mis-read your post, at the age of that shroom, you would normaly print. PE is obviously a poor depositer, but it can be done. Check for the darker, print those, and cross your fingers. There is nothing you can do to force it to drop spores... Maybe you should look into cloning... check into tissue to LC cloning if you don't know about it already.

I don't know from the quick swab that you took. You should really try taking a spore print before it drops its spores. Would be a shame to see all those nice purple spores all over your substrate. I personally would print that sucker now and leave it for two days to make sure that you get all the spores that sucker is going to drop.

Well, the press and twist method from that link was pretty straightforward and worked just fine.
It remains to be seen whether the gills had any airborne contaminants on them.
I'll have to try that cut in half method next time. Thx for the link curbstop.

One of the methods from the link nineinchnails posted turned out to be pretty effective. Swab will work too, but I don't think the agar turned out so great. Is real rubbery. Need to tweak the formula a bit I think. Swabbed some spores to it just for kicks, but not very optimistic.
