On the contrary, God is defined in an infinite amount of ways these days!

It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.

I would call myself an atheist to joe-shmos out there that i wouldn't want to get deep and philosophical about, simply because i don't believe in an anthropomorphic type of god.  I think of god not as a living being that can physically manipulate matter, but a non-local entity made purely of information.

I fail to see how a non-sentient cause of the bang is more simple than a sentient cause of the bang.

Condition1 + Condition2 = Big Bang
Condition1 + Condition2 + God = Big Bang

1 fewer variable = mathematically simpler.

Thats presumptuous.  It could be Condition1 + Condition2 + ... + Condition 100 = Big Bang or merely Condition1 + Condition2 + God = Big Bang.

The point is we dont know if it is simpler to postulate a creator for the bang or not because we cannot yet fathom what the conditions in either case would be.

I think the best evidence for the non-existence of god is the continuing trend of needing the idea of god less and less to explain our observations.  This trend is indisputable - the realm of god has been shrinking for thousands of years.  Whether or not this trend will ultimately converge to a point where god has no realm, or to a point where there is a finite realm for god is unknown.  But the track record of our understanding does not bode well for a god.

haha no im not saying information is god.  I'm saying that god doesn't really exist physically in this dimension, god is non-local, its not made of matter or light.  Only information.  I think most peoples models of intelligence are wrong.

Simpler is only favored when each theory has equal descriptive and predictive power for our observations.  A more complicated theory is fine if it is more powerful.  Nothing existing is the simplest theory, but it does not jive with observation and for that reason it is thrown out.

Thanks for demonstrating your total lack of understanding of Occam's Razor. It is not really something to be proud of.

Its not eternal because it doesn't exist.  How can something last to the end of time, if there is no time to exist in?  God is real, but it is made purely of information.

Is it presumptious? Neither you nor I know the initial conditions, so to say that X number of unknown conditions + 1 is simpler is clearly incorrect.

To state that 'God' replaces several or more conditions; therefore it is simpler, is an assumption with no factual basis and raises yet more questions as to how God arose. Once again - not simpler.

I agree.  But the converse is also true, to say god doesnt replace one or more conditions is also an assumption with no factual basis.

(Also, the question of how god arose is irrelevant.  Maybe he evolved by natural selection in his realm, maybe he was created, maybe he is eternal - it doesn't matter because none of those cases change the fact that we dont know about the conditions that 'caused' the bang and whether or not god would replace one or more of them.)

i have a question.
God can't of came out of no where.
so what created god? and what created it that created god.
and so on so forth?
and to those idiots who say Atheist automatically think the big bang created the earth.
go back to researching.
look up the meaning of the word Atheist.

But we CAN test for some claims about God.

1. Cancer + treatment = X% remission/recovery

2. Cancer + treatment + prayer = the same X% remission/recovery

Therefore petitionary prayer is ineffectual for treating cancer. This is a clear example of an extraneous and unnecessary variable.

Yeah god is real.  But not in any dimension in which we operate in.  God exists as non-local pure information.

No its not eternal, because it operates in a timeless dimension.  There is no place or time to be eternal.
