Maturing PES Hawaiian
    #1101815 - 12/01/02 09:52 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

This is a question for those of you that have successfully cultivated PES Hawaiian Strain. How long did it take your pins to become fully mature fruit bodies. As for me, it took about 12 days for my cakes to pin. Now the pins have been growing for 6 days and they have only grew a little more than 2 cm. From talking with a few people, this seems a bit out of the norm. So i was wondering if maybe this had something to do with this strain or maybe im doing something wrong here..BTW they have 12/12 light, 74 degrees, and 100% rh. Thanks in Advance

Your humidity is too high. High humidity results in slow or stunted growth.

Alright my casing has the same problem. The fruit takes about 6 days to grow to full maturity as well. I will remove the plastic wrap from it and see how it goes. Wish me luck.

Hrmm.... well i dont think rh is a problem and as for air exchange i have a fan that pipes in filtered air through a tube and it provides about 6 complete air exchanges a day. so i dont know what the deal is.  it took for ever for my cakes to pin and when they did i got about 100+ pins per cake. but the pins just arent growing as fast as they should.

Good Luck

I think you got me all wrong.. im not freaking out about this, nor am i in a rush.  i know it takes a while, i was just simply asking if anyone had experimented with this strain and did it take them this long to mature. and if it didnt take them as long, could i be doing something wrong.  i got all the time in the world
