I'm surprised this hasn't really been brought up, maybe I've missed a convo about it but here it is: I've gathered info asserting that mushrooms are able to absorb heavy metals from the environment. Which is why we should be careful when growing them. So mushrooms are able to absorb toxins and more... with that said I think about saw dust from treated wood as a possibility for a growers substrate. Will the mushrooms absorb the treatment chemicals? I mean, A LOT of lumber is treated

Copper arsenate isn't to be messed with. You're not even supposed to sunbathe on a treated wood deck. Who uses lumber to grow mushrooms anyway? Use branches from hardwood trees. Every city or town has at least one business that specializes in tree trimming. Give them a free place to drop off the trimmings. RR

thanks for the input. I don't like the idea of treated wood either
