I HATE The Credit Game
    #11016553 - 09/07/09 07:16 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

It's just too messed up, too unstable and who the hell makes up this stuff..

At one point in my life, not long ago I had great credit of about 800.  I got into buying and fixing homes for sale and selling them for a profit but that went bust and I got out..

The majority of all my paid history is gone off a normal credit report, all them promises I made and paid cannot be found..?

I had to struggle when the economy went down and I had to get rid of everything just to break even real quick..

Just looked at my credit report and it's like the past 8 years have disappeared.  All of what I've done on borrowed money cannot be found..  Sure the three late payments I made on accident years ago show up on my regular report, but where is all the good stuff?

I know, I know.  Many reports are available and everything can be seen, but most creditors don't look at the deep reports, they only get the cover version and make a decision...

In my life, everyone has gotten everything I have ever borrowed plus all the interest involved and they were all paid on time..

Still, I can't figure out why the hell my credit score is now just 700..

WTF?

www.freecreditreport.com

I've used it before.  I believe you can either order a full report or just get your score.  If memory serves me, I think you get one free report a year.

To get a free credit score go to http://www.creditkarma.com/; Ythan posted this site a year or so ago and it seems legit.  I use it every month.

I think that is not bad and not good, its in the middle.  A big thing they look at is your credit to debt ratio.  I have financed alot of things in the last two months for a move, and thus my credit score dropped almost 20 points - even though I have yet to default on anything, or even miss a payment.  It a guessing game really, their algorithm for calculating a credit score is a guarded secret.

720+ is considered excellent.

Be careful with pulling your credit on a regular basis.  It actually lowers your score every time someone pulls your credit.

Not every time.  Some pulls lower the score and some do not.  I forget the term, but they are separated on your credit report.  CreditKarma quires do not effect credit.

Good to know.

AllI I know is that when I was searching for my latest home loan going through a bunch of different providers it actually lowered my score.
