Is there any reason why a bench trial would be better than having a jury?

is the incentive that the judge would most likely not be as easily persuaded than a group of laymen?

Persuaded by what?

Are you talking about a murder or rape charge? In what city, what is your ethnicity, ect.

Unless you are dealing with a SERIOUS charge, (past first appearances on most crimes that could give you over a year or two minimum, in the experience of anecdotes), you are likely to not worry about a jury.

If you have a body...

...well, get a good lawyer. Ask them. Or some of the more legalistically informed on the board. Assuming this is hypothetical, otherwise, get a lawyer.

It depends on the case.  If there is a known technicality that should get you off, you would be better off with a judge.  He knows the law and should apply it correctly.  A jury may see the same case and not give a crap about the technicality, and convict you.

If you are technically guilty but your case has compelling human aspects, you may be better off with a jury since they are more likely to see your side of it and feel sorry for you or be convinced that the law should not be applied for some reason.

Ask your lawyer.  He may recommend a jury trial because that would likely to cause him to get paid more.

I haven't been charged with anything I was just wondering what reasons a person would be better off with a bench trial.
