OK well I Knocked up 9 Wbs jars last night with tyvek over the lids. Woke up this morning and went to check them out and the little bastard ate through all the tyvek on all of my jars. This is not the first time I have had problems with this or these mice. I had a couple mycobags the little guy decided to help himself to. So its clear I am going to eat that little mouse. He eats my substrate I am going to eat him. I hope my jars colonize with no contams.

lol I like the cage idea. Maybe I should catch him and get a cage and then feed him nothing but colonized substrate and mushrooms, as punishment for its crimes. I wonder if mice feel the same effects of mycelium as humans do. If so, I bet that would be some crazy shit to be a mouse tripping my balls off for the rest of my life, in a cage being fed by a giant. Regardless something has to be done. ha ha. I moved all my jars to a sure safe, place my cabinet in my kitchen. And started soaking some more wbs. Just in case the violated jars get contams. Planing on getting some traps to. STUPID MOUSE

Well I had them in my bedroom closet at first. Till I started fruiting. Then I moved them to my living room closet on account of the light from the fruiting chambers. And that's where the little Mouse bastard struck. So now I have them in my cupboard above my stove. If that little guy gets in there he is dead for sure. Shit what am I saying, mousy is going down for sure.

Anyone else find this thread a bit sadistic? I would focus on how/why you have mice in your house than thinking up ways to kill it. Patch up holes in your walls/roof/etc.
I mean I dislike mice just as much as the next guy, but I sure as hell don't let them in my house to begin with.

Well I have been having mice problems in the new house I just moved into. I broke a jar in the closet that I keep my jars in and was tired and lazy and left it til the next day. As I was cleaning it looked to me that the mouse had been eating the WBS. I found the mouse later that day dead under my fridge. I have a feeling the mouse died by mushroom poisoning. Fuck the mice.

I live in apt. Well Its a house separated into 3 apts. Point is that even if I do catch the little guy I'm sure there is allot more running around through the other apartments. Also one of the apts is unoccupied So I'm sure the mice are loving that place. I really don't want to kill it, I love animals, even the little greedy mushroom eating ones. But if this happens again, or worse yet they find ways into my fruiting chambers. I think death by shrooms is an honorable way to go. If i had a choice I'm sure I would choose the same way.

Yea I have seen them do things like chew there legs off. Its really nasty. I don't like un-domesticated mice, but thats just too nasty and gross. I have heard of ppl building little stairs upto a bucket filled with water. In the middle of the bucket is a ball with PB on it. The mice try to get the PB and drown in the bucket.

Ya I will probably just set up some snap traps and discard the bodies. Or get some of them safe traps and drive them a few miles away and let them go and fuck with someone elses house.

Apparently you have never gone to war with a stubborn mouse or two. It becomes very personal. I'd go for a combination of traps and poison. If you have a deep tub you can make a trail of seed leading up to the tub, with a little in the bottom.

Traps and poison are fine, when you catch them and feed them psychedelics 'till they die, it's a little on the sadistic side.
Use butter instead of peanut butter on the traps, see how that goes

In order to prove lack of involvement of the dopamine system in humans for the psilocybin mechanism, the Psychiatric University Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland, conducted psychological research on human subjects. They investigated the current animal hypothesis of the psilocybin mechanism to test weather 5-HT2 and/or dopamine receptors are effected through psilocybin. Their results support that the effects induced by psilocybin results from the activation of a 5-HT2 subtype of serotonin receptor in human subjects as well as in animals.
The hallucinogenic psilocybin and psilocin found in mushrooms have low toxicity. Studies in mice showed that doses up to 200 mg of psilocybin/kg of body can injected without lethal effects. That implies that an average human with body weight of 65 kg can be injected 13 grams of the psychoactive mushroom ingredient without experiencing any lethal effects (WWW 1).
in it's entirety here: http://www.shroomery.org/6231/Psilocybin-awareness
So find an abort that weighs about .2g and try get him to eat it...

Awesome so they are effected psilocybin. If I can scrounge up the money for a cage. I am so down for catching the little guy and seeing if he would eat an abort or two. From what I have heard(aborts are more potent than full grown mushrooms) I bet the guy would have a hell of a time.

i think i would be emotionally ruined (not everyone would be), if i hurt a cat, dog, mouse, cow, rat, anything, even a frog. I would worry if i ruined them or if they are now ptsd from high dose or any dose considering they cant put 1 and 1 together bad enough without the dose. thats just me and the rest of the 10 percent of 80 being the whole. i imagine some get a good kick out of it, i cant stop animal abuse, some people love this kind of stuff. and i have no room to say they shouldnt or cant do what they want, cause i cant stop them, thats their will not mine. take my post witha grain of salt and think for youself. not everyone can appreciate messing with an animal. regardless if it was a theift, regardless if it seemed ugly to me. what do i know, i step over ants like a pussy

some people need some meat in their diet, thats just how nature works, some need more meat, some need more veg, some animals are veg intollerant, some are meat intollerant, and some can have both lesser and greater than. though i can only wish lions would take up being veg, but their bodies would probably die from the lack of natural food. imagine a cat eating grass, they vomit. its the circle of life

Because it's not a black and white issue. We're carnivores with a conscience. You have to draw the line somewhere and individuals draw that line differently. I eat cows, kill mice, but would swerve off the road to avoid hitting a cat/dog/squirrel/etc... There's no principle that can justify this paradoxical behavior. It's just the human condition.
