Cool picture... but I would never put a frog on my substrate unless I'm just asking for contamination.

Hah, nah thats my girlfriend . I just tossed some old cakes in the corner of my toads terranium which is just sphagnm moss and coco coir. I thought the picture would be self explainatory but my toad isn't just a toad, it's a Bufo Alvarius, and THAT is why this picture is particularly epic.

Hey, total newb ignorance here: They live with that kind of humidity? I had thought of them as more of a dry creature? (Obviously, 'just hanging out' with some mushrooms is harmless if so.)

I mimic its natural enviornment because i'm hoping to eventually breed her with a male so basicly i keep it moist in there for half the year and let it gradually dry out at which point she burrows and stays underground for a few months. The pictures a little misleading, it isn't that humid in there hence why i only got 3-4 pins, I had just misted before the pic was taken.

Oh, that half-year thing makes sense.
I was curious because I thought I remembered that they live within driving distance. But there's lots of places out here like that.

There's no toad that can get you high from licking it. I don't use mine for getting high and either should you, however, its patroid glands (right behind her eye, see pic) contain high concentrations of the toads venom, which contains 5-meO-DMT as well as bufotenin which is questionably psychedelic/toxic. The glands can be milked, more like popped- like pimples, and the substance can be collected on a glass sheet to be evaporated and the resulting crust can be packed on a bowl/in ye olde tweak pipe. There's better, cheaper, less cruel ways to get DMT though.. And as for how awesome it is, I find it interesting how self-aware she is concidering she is, after all, just an amphibian. Her terranium is near where I am most of the day, she watches me often and shows curiosity in what im doing, it's obvious to me that since i've had her she has gradually accepted my presence and even allows me to hand feed her. I feel weird calling it a her, but "it" just isnt very nice, and she is female.

No it isn't fatal, the glands are behind their eyes, not.. in them? This pic shows the glands better than the OP. They have 4 smaller glands as well, two on each hind leg.

Truly epic! I knew as soon as I saw the pic what kind of toad that was. So there's no way to 'humanely' get some 5-Meo-DMT? I've always been into herpetology and I absolutely love reptiles and especially amphibians. If you don't mind me asking though, why get a Sonoran Desert Toad if you're not going to get some tryptamine out of it? They look like cool toads, but it would just seem like there are cheaper more rewarding and personable amphibians available, that is, if you truly do not and would never give it a milking.

There's 5-meO-DMT in small amounts in most plants that contain N,N-DMT, i know Phalaris grass is known to contain both 5-meO and N DMT. It is a unique pet and hey, in 10 or so years when she.. croaks maybe i'll score some 5-meO then. I also have a Datura plant, that doesnt mean i'm going to use that to trip

Haha, well comparing datura and 5-Meo is probably a bit rash. I thought they had a pretty high content of 5-Meo-DMT in ratio to the bufotenine, I could totally be wrong though. If I had one I would feel bad squeezing it's paratoids too...
Cool toad man, and I love your Vivarium. :P Probably one of the illest I have seen.
Epic if you could breed her though! CB toadlets would be $$$!

I find the scent of datura intoxicating but also would never eat it. However, I think I would milk that bitch and trip balls on dmt.

DMT can be extracted from various plants. Phalaris grass is commonly used for extraction, along with many other plants, but mimosa hostilis inner root bark has the highest ratio of tryptamines to plant material. I believe it is around 1.5% DMT by volume. The dmt of which most people talk about is n,n dmt, which requires a dose of around ~60-90mg. It is probably the most powerful hallucinogenic drug on the planet. The more uncommon form of dmt is 5-meo dmt, which in my experience, tends to be less enjoyable and 'darker' than n,n dmt. The doses required for 5-meo are much smaller, I think like ~15 milligrams.
When you've experienced dimethyltryptamine, shrooms just tend to be in a whole other ball park, maybe even a different sport, maybe even on another planet.

They show some discomfort when you squeeze the venom out, once you start trying it'll start covering its body in slippery poison and it's difficult to keep ahold of them. I don't like to stress mine like that but whatever floats your boat.
