First acid trip tomorrow

Hey all. New to these forums, I've been reading them for a while now and have found them really helpful and finally got around to signing up. This is gonna be a bit of a long post so bare with me. A bit of background info, I'm a 19 year old college student, I've been reading up on psychedelics for a good couple years now but only got around to finally trying them recently (due to previously having a lack of supply).

I tried salvia back in January and have had some pretty sweet trips, but finally got ahold of shrooms in July and have tripped three times since then. My first two trips were on 1.5 grams of probably average potency shrooms (I was tripping, but it was light enough that you couldn't tell I was under the influence of anything unless I told you). My last trip however, was with 2 grams of really potent shrooms and was way beyond anything I was expecting at that dose. Essentially I couldn't stand up during the trip (and basically had the motor skills of a 2 year old), I had massive synesthesia (during the peak all of my senses basically converged into one), and crazy visuals. Aside from horrible anxiety during the come-up it was an amazing trip.

Now, I finally got ahold of some acid, which I'm told is supposed to be fairly potent. I plan on tripping tomorrow but I do have some pre-trip anxiety (as expected), though I seem to be getting more now than I normally do. So I'm just looking for some opinions and advice from experienced trippers...

First of all, I'll be doing this solo (all three shroom trips and most of my salvia trips have been solo). I have my own apartment with nobody else living here so I can basically do what I want when I'm home, and I have an awesome park in easy walking distance from here so that should be plenty for the trip (though it's a lot easier to get out of my apartment than to get back in, so I'll probably start off the trip at home rather than out in the park).

Now, the first thing I'm debating is the dose. I was thinking of doing two hits, however these are supposed to be fairly potent so I'm not sure. On the one hand I feel more comfortable jumping right in than I was before (and from experience I've found that my more intense shroom/salvia trips were better/easier to handle than some of the lower level ones). On the other hand, this is my first time using LSD, and it's far longer lasting than any other substance I've used (shrooms only last 3 to 4 hours for me). And again, I'm gonna be solo. So I'm not entirely sure. Obviously the final call is up to me, but I'm just wondering whether some of you more experienced trippers think that two hits of whatever you'd consider to be "good" acid, is too much for a solo first-timer.

And a couple other things. How "fucked up" would I look on a hit or two of good acid? Cause the park nearby tends to have a fair amount of older people and parents with young children, so for obvious reasons I don't wanna look totally deranged or cracked out of mind around people like that, you know? The park is really big and not too crowded, though, it's not like I'm gonna be stuck beside people or anything, but I will have to deal with others walking around so I'd prefer not to look too completely out of it haha.

Anyway, that's about it for now. I had a few other things I was gonna ask but I can't remember them right now, I'll post them later tonight or tomorrow morning (I'm tripping probably in the early afternoon) if I remember. If you've read this entire post, thanks for that and I hope you guys will have some good advice or experiences or opinions to share on the matter.

If you were assured its pretty good cid, and its your firs time, take just one dude. 1 hit of cid is enough to change your perspective on everything drastically for a very long time and can be very nerve-wracking for some first time users in the last hours and the peak. However, if you want the FULL-blown acid experience your first time, i'd take two.

I'd recommend you only have one dose to start - you can always have more a few hours in, if it's not getting you to where you'd want to be.

Also, remember acid can last a pretty long time. If you plan on sleeping at all afterwards, be sure to take it earlier rather than later =)

Thanks guys. Yeah, right now I'm leaning more towards one so I'll probably go with that (unless I change my mind before then). I'll be taking it probably around 1:30 or 2:00 this afternoon. Although I'd like to take it a couple hours earlier I'm busy until then, but after that I'm free for a couple days so staying up a little later than planned shouldn't screw up my daily schedule haha.

No idea what the potency is in terms of micrograms, just that they're supposedly pretty strong. I'll be taking one in a few minutes. And yeah they're a little bit uneven in size but whatever.

45 minutes since consuming the hit. The comeup's been really smooth and slow, a little bit of anxiety and body load but not nearly as much as on shrooms (and everything feels more clear, lucid, relaxed). I'm definitely feeling it now, I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. I'll probably post an update later after I come down but right now I'm still headed towards psychedelic land so I'll see ya guys later :laugh:

I've done LSD twice, first time i did it, one of the best nights of my life, second time wasn't as strong but was good nonetheless.

Wow, so two hours in it's going pretty good. I'm definitely more clearheaded than on shrooms, if I was tripping this hard on mushrooms there's no way I'd be able to type a message and use the computer. It's so wierd, I feel like I'm tripping pretty hard and yet I have no visuals at all and I'm totally clear headed.

Sometimes I feel like I"m tripping really hard, other times it feels like I could get so much more out of it, like I need to bring it into the next level. I'm tempted to take more but I'm not totally sure. I'm gonna head on out to the park and think about it... (part of me feels like if I can type a message this well, it means I'm not tripping hard enough haha, but that could just be the way acid is)

Okay, so next time I'm definitely taking two hits. Still tripping fairly hard but it's not as strong as I wish it was. I'd take another hit but at this point it's been three hours so I think taking anymore now would just extend the duration and not intensify the trip.

So basically what I wanna know is, is will taking another hit now simply intensify the effects I'm feeling or will it just overtake it as I start to come down and then I'll be tripping at about this level for another 8 - 12 hours? Cause if I can get the full-blown effects I'm willing to try but I don't wanna just be stuck at this level for another 8 to 12.

This is why taking two at once is recommended. I recognise what you are talking about with the clear-headed feeling and lack of visuals, although there are recurring motifs etc.. it is mostly baseline stuff compared to mushrooms.

Yeah, I feel like I'm too much in my normal, everyday state of mind despite the fact that I'm definitely tripping. This trip so far just feels really "hollow", like I didn't gain anything from it. And based on experience I'd say that's the result of not having taken enough. Ah well, I'm just trying to enjoy it for what it is now, since trying to make it more than it is kind of got me into frustrated thought loops which is unncessary.

Yeah next time I'm taking more. But would you guys advise against re-dosing this first time?

The trip is definitely starting to wear off now after just four hours, I mean I'm definitely still tripping but I'm feeling the stimulant after-effect more than the actual mental/visual trip right now. And I'm just considering taking another hit (or hit and a half) to really make this experience all it can be. I was expecting to be fully tripping hard for at least 6 to 8 hours before I would be really coming down but it seems to be shorter than that. So I'm thinking it would be okay to re-dose since it's still early enough (sunset's not even for two more hours), but I'm just wondering what other, experienced people's opinions/experiences with that are.

Also, I've been tripping for about four hours and so if I do re-dose my entire trip will end up being 4 hours longer than normal. Do you guys think this would be too much for a first time or would do you think I should go for it if I feel comfortable?

Yeah I'm leaning towards that. Cause right now I realised the actual trip itself is pretty much over. It's just the come-down that I'm going through now - everything still "feels" different and my mind is a bit cloudy (honestly it's kind of like being stoned), and I definitely have the speedy body high going. But all of the actual trippy things (mental trip of any kind, patterns, visuals, etc.) are all gone, so duration wise I actually wouldn't feel too bad about dosing again since it doesn't last too long (the main reason I didn't wanna re-dose is because I thought it would extend the trip to far too long, but it's not as long as I thought it would be and I think it's manageable if I do take some more).

Also, I should mention I have nothing scheduled for a couple days so this has nothing to do with time constraints. My decision is just purely based on total tripping time from start to finish, and the fact that I may feel more "tired" of the trip or more susceptible to negative thoughts/thought patterns after a long period of tripping. But I mean, do you guys ever have that happen? Or do you think if I start the trip fresh with another dose that it won't matter?

Try it and see.

Learning from personal experience is usually the best way.

Personally, I wouldn't do it.  Redosing for me has always been an epic fail and epic waste of goods.  I had to learn that first hand though.

Also, based on what I've read/heard, if you want to redose, you should aim for doubling up the initial dose to have the significant effects you seek, otherwise all you're doing is prolonging the mild effects.

If you have a few days to spare and fool around with and you're confident, you could redose, but use your own discretion as to whether that's a good idea or not.

IMO it sounds like you've experienced your first acid trip today, albeit a little weaker than you expected. Save the goods for another day, it will go a longer way. If you want to kick things up right now I'd suggest some herb, will definately bring back the trip with some added visuals.

Well if I don't re-dose this time and decide to wait, my next opportunity to trip is in exactly two weeks (at which point I'll have two full weeks off, so plenty of time to experiment).

Weed synergizes quite well with LSD!

I can NEVER smoke enough weed on LSD :lol:

I remember me and 2 friends went through a half ounce of dank in one day... literally all we did was chill and trip our asses off all the while smoking bongloads :yesnod:

It was great but definitely used too much weed :tongue:

We were so tired by the end of the day, but we couldn't sleep either.. LSD always keeps me up :lol:

Yeah I've decided not to redose. I'll just wait the two weeks for my tolerance to go away, and then I'll have time to trip again. But during those two weeks, if this happens again I'm not gonna wait for tolerance to go away, I'll just take way more right away.

Man, what a disappointing afternoon, I've definitely learned my lesson about not taking enough with psychedelics. This happened with shrooms too, my first shroom trip was about on par with this afternoon's trip, maybe a little bit less intense, but I had nothing to compare it to so it seemed amazing. Then I did shrooms a second time and it was the same dosage as the first time (1.5 grams) and although I'd really enjoyed it the first time I gained absolutely nothing from it the second time and found myself really frustrated that I didn't have more.

Well, this is exaclty how I feel now. This is essentially what happend with this trip. I got enough to experience the basic effects, but not enough for anything profound or meaningful at all (no incredible personal insights or revelations like I had on my last and most intense mushroom trip so far). Yeah, I had a fun afternoon of listening to music and watching Planet Earth and The Simpsons and seeing some patterns forming themselves in the carpet, but I wanted so much more than that.

How strange is it that some people take acid just to "see cool shit" or "get fucked up" and then having an incredible, profound, life changing experience but I took acid for that kind of an experience and instead just got "fucked up" and saw "cool shit" without any real substance?

Well, I'm certainly looking forward to two weeks from now. Now that I'm acquainted with LSD I can honestly say I liked it more than shrooms and I'm comfortable enough to take two, if not three hits my next time.

Also, what's with the short duration? I always hear it's supposed to be 8 to 12 hours, but here I am less than 6 hours after dropping and I barely feel it anymore... just a bit of cloudy-headedness on par with being moderately stoned, and the tiniest bit of that electric stimulant body high. Then again, I'd always heard mushrooms were 6 hours and they last just over half of that for me usually, so I guess this was expected.

Anyway, I think I'm gonna head off to the park and get stoned sooner or later. Hope my weed highs are gonna be trippier now (shrooms didn't have much of an effect on that so I don't know if acid will).

Next time you feel like its not enough, take some sleeping pills. Then it will be enough.

Also, its not a two week tolerance, more like 3-7 days

Yeah I know it takes less than two weeks, what I meant is that two weeks from now is my next opportunity to trip. And now I've concluded that weed does indeed synergize with the LSD very well. Although I didn't smoke it during the actual trip, smoking a joint was great for the comedown. Kind of surprised me, as I hated the weed + shrooms combo the first two times (out of three in total) I tried it.
